I thought once I saw the thread title people would start dissing the OP but instead they actually support his idea? What?
Are Rangers really in that bad of a state now? Is everyone rerolling their rangers into ranged warriors? Do rangers really do zilch damage compared to other classes?
What's your opinion on this thread?

Tell that to my guild mate (2nd in command), he loves his ranger and can fight with the best of them. This guy just rages without any explanation, crying for a refund.
Engineers had it rough for a while with some annoying bugs, but I still played them because I enjoyed them.
I'm not saying rangers don't need work, I'm saying a real player would roll with the punches and adapt.
If this guy is sad with the power of a ranger, he obviously never played a ritualist in GW1 before they got buffed. Now THAT was underpowered, but you know what? I still loved them and played mine.extensively.

I do archery and I gave up my ranger because of the dullness of the profession. Just saying.

I feel this guys pain, I do. I played ranger since release, but recently I have swiched mains to a necro cause rangers just feel so pathetic, I have tried every build I can find and nothing seems to get the same success as other classes, too bad too put alot of work into him, just too frustrating to play. Ultimately its about what you enjoy though, and if you don't enjoy the ranger don't play it.

If he doesn't like the play style of the ranger he is more than welcome to change classes as many have. I am just tired of seeing all the QQ and you better change classes because ranger is obviously not fun.
It is fun, I play my ranger because I love my class, not because it is powerful. Powerful classes change all the time in a lifetime of an MMO. Classes receive buffs when they are due and when they are outperforming other classes they get their nerf. If you are playing FTM I am afraid you will often be dissappointed as your FTM build will be the one typically on the chopping block for nerfs.
the ranger class in THIS game is centralized around the partnership of the pet. We can't get away from it. The more you utilize the pet as a partner and member of a team the better you will find the ranger perform and the less dull it becomes. The pet is not a fire and forget weapon. If you wanted to play an archer without the pet as a partner, then by all means role a warrior, you will enjoy it more.
But please oh fricken please stop telling me that I shouldn't be having fun with my class even though I am, and that I am not as effective as other classes even though I am.

heh I dunno why folks get offended when someone isn't having fun with the same class as they have? Get over it. Ranger compared to other classes is very under powered at the moment...and for the majority of folks I am sure, being effective in a game is fun.

I'm not offended if they are not having fun with a class. I've made 15 different characters before settling into my current ranger (3 prior rangers). I am all about choosing a class that is fun. If they aren't having fun I urge them to change. I am just sick of the language dictating that I shouldn't be having fun on my ranger even though I am, and that I am not supposed to be effective... even though I am.

Everyone, feel free to remember the Ranger of GW1. It never received a buff in the lifespan of the game (maybe a minor one) and constantly had mediocre dps that couldn't match any of the other classes. ANet didn't seem to care then, I doubt they'll care much more now.

The ranger isn't in as bad of a state as people say it is now, but yes, it does need fixing. Honestly, I think the biggest reason for the QQ is from the inflated expectations Jon Peters (ArenaNet) gave rangers regarding the Nov 15th patch. Even then, it wasn't supposed to really make Rangers more powerful, but rather it was supposed to fix some bugs and give rangers more than one viable build (short bow dps).
When the patch notes released and there wasn't a ton of real fixes for the Ranger, the real QQ began. Since then people have really been overexaggerating the state of rangers.
But in reality, the ranger is a mediocre class, not a terrible one.
