Frankly, it's impossible to tell what prices will be in the future. They could be higher even, for all we know.  It all depends on the players demand for these items or if the developers/economists decide to intervene.

No one can tell what the future brings... all I can say is an example in GW1.
Ectos there used to be 10k (even higher in the beginning of the game), as Zaishen patch came and some other stuff it dropped to 4.5k - that's more then 50% drop  in price (making the price of Obsidian Armor drop from 1milllion to ~500k). I remember this because one month after I got my Obsy they went down so much.
They're back at 7-9k now I think.... tha's how the market goes, up and down.

The prices will go back down when botters get around whatever Anet has been doing recently. Anet banned a whole host of botters and the prices shot up by several times.

Also, if you think prices never keep going up... look at the price of jewels. So long as people continue to buy jewels for gold (demand continues to grow), and don't buy gold with jewels (who in their right mind would??) the price will continue to increase until Anet does something about it.

Might hang around there for a few weeks at most, with the release of precursors in the chest during Lost Shores some people that got the precursors likely decided to pursue them. The market balanced itself therefore by rising the prices on T6 mats to compensate for the increases in precursors. Contrary to popular belief legendary weapons aren't going to become as abundant as naysayers believe because of that factor. Therefore once people realize that it isn't as easy as it's being made out to believe the prices will lower as people start selling their T6 mats to recuperate the loss.'

Without botters the supply of t6 mats and ecto is low, buying 10-25 t6 mats will increase the price by 1s. The precursors from Lost shore has made the demand for legendary craft mats high. So prices will continue to increase until their is enough supply to meet the demand. I do not see that happening anytime soon.

It's not only the precursors from the lost shore event. Many of the good looking exotic weapons and the ascended backpacks require t6 materials as well.

Since the amount of gold in the game is always rising, I don't see any price going down until those mats are outdated.

Anet obviously wanted the demand and price to go up so I guess the market is up to them, thats why they put in ecto's and t6 materials for the new ascended gear so if Anet wants the price high, they will make it go high.

Its not really a player controlled market with they tax you crap loads and control the market by putting into the game and picking certain items to have to be used to create the best gear currently in the game...is pretty obvious they wanted ecto's and t6 materials to go up.

Considering the other ascended gear will also require 250 ectoes to upgrade, I dont think ectoes will drop in price before either the botts come back or they make it a lot easier to get. Really hope someone discovers a method of upgrading the ascended stuff without the 250 ectoes.

That is the problem. Crafting these items is a core part of the PvE end-game. I don't see how the prices are supposed to drop significantly unless Anet changes the drop rate. They are very rare drops and every player needs a ton of them.

i think the demand wont go down for months, since the more people get more money and aiming for a legendary, and nearly everything "high-end" in the game takes ectos to make.
so the demand is rising and rising, no patch, no cheaper prices imo

Why would they? From ArenaNet's perspective, the ideal point for the value of gems is where buying gold with gems is efficient enough to push the gold sellers out of the market (which would have knock-on effects of cutting down on botting, account hacking, and gold seller spam). Economically, that's probably never going to happen - people buying gems with gold are people who are actually playing the game and thus are likely to value gold higher than the gold seller who sees it purely as a commodity to be transformed into real world money - but as long as the illegal gold sellers can still undercut the legitimate market, ArenaNet's probably going to remain happy with the gold price of gems rising.

also think about the black lion salvage kits. gems are going up, making those more expensive to get, meaning either ectos cost more per salvage, or people stop using them all together and move on to mystic salvage kits. either way, gems are a huge factor in why ectos are constantly rising
