I got an Khilbron's Phylactery. It's a ring that I got from Fractals level 10.

How about you?

Solaria, Circle of the Sun
Red Ring of Death (Infused)
some other ring I cant even remember the name of

FotM boring after one week, the obvious P2W with back braces has stripped me of any motivation to continue past 30.

Bought a couple of new games from the Steam sale yesterday which I will try out.

GW2 was fun while it lasted.

Yes, because the stats given by back pieces decide whether or not you can steamroll people. /sarcasm

Solo PVE here, grinding mats and crafting, raking in a little silver as I go.  Couldn't care less about Ascended, won't be touching that grind.

None, since I am an Ascended hater, why would I have an Ascended item?

I will always be in FOTM level 1 as I have stopped playing FOTM altogether.  I will be forced to quit this game sooner or later as I have decided not to participate in their gear grind.  Bring it on, ArenaNet!

Is the title purposely a misnomer?

Anyway, will never have an ascended item. At least the way it is currently implemented.

It's cute how you PvP players hold on to the belief that PvP is the only game play that has competition.

The simple fact is that if I wish to continue progressing in FotM I need to shell out absurd amounts of money.

If you dispute this fact then you haven't done the dungeon past level 1.

Maybe I can say this here and get away with it, though I wouldn't dare say it on the official forum:

Anyone who goes to the gem store and spends a bunch of money to shorten their grind deserves to be broke and I have no sympathy for them.  Quite the opposite, in fact, as it's this behavior that encourages devs to create more pay to win (or pay to not grind until you die in your chair like some poor gold farmer in an internet cafe).  Stop it, people, just close your damn wallets and say no!

250 ectos for every new tier of Fractal Backpack.

What is retarded is that people are still willing to chase this gear knowing what it takes to get it.  They're sending a terrible message to these devs.  One that makes gamers in general look really dumb.

Fractals of the Mists and it's associated rewards have been in the works since before the release of GW2.

You do not create such massive content in the time span of a month.

The GW2 fan base sent a clear enough message when they willingly accepted P2W items such as Resurrection Orbs and Repair Canisters in the cash shop.

You can't blame people who do that because the game is designed to encourage that.  In fact, everyone on this thread, or in the game, who boasts about their ascended items is encouraging this.

As for those who are farming gold, the way I see it, if you earn more than $20/hour in your job, you already earn more than about 20g38s8c/hour in GW2 currency.  So you can spend your hours farming gold in the game, or you can spend time doing what you like, and pay for the gold through gems.

You can farm for gold in the game or you can farm for gold in real life (i.e. this is probably faster for most people).  Makes sense to me to use the more productive farming method.

Unless gems to gold exchange rate climbs up again in favor of gold, people would be encouraged to buy gems for gold.  However, ArenaNet would continue to ensure that their revenue keeps coming in, as expected.

I can and do blame them.  It's idiotic and it encourages devs to make even more idiotic games that are so grindy people pay to not have to play them as much.  It's the worst kind of hamster wheel running, shiny chasing, addictive gamer behavior out there, and I seriously want to see it stop.

Edit:  For people who genuinely have less time to play, I have no problem with a paid rested XP bar that also provided bonus drops once the player has time to play, I consider that somewhat reasonable.

You're probably right, I do and should feel guilty for even buying the game once I found out they were doing that gems to gold crap.  This is what I deserve for overlooking such an obvious sign of what was to come.

I never said I do PvP. For the record, I barely do.

Also, agony isn't a factor until level 10 and even then ascended items aren't really a requirement to do it successfully. Therefore, I am indeed disputing your "fact."

You do realise that at 20+ the Agony from Jade Maw will instantly kill your team unless you sync 10 different heals on the entire team (your team will realistically never do this, but lets go with it for the sake of the argument). With a self heal, you need about 15 AR to prevent dying from agony.

At 30+? You will instadie regardless of what you use.

The only way you could circumvent this is by

*drumroll*

Resurrection Orbs.

ITT people who like to support the game are retards and deserve to die. Aren't you guys bunch of sweethearts.

I accept the Gem Store but I do agree that Resurrection Orbs and Magic Deodorants are quite silly. But still, they're not game-breaking. Heck, the Res Orb is downright useless. When you use it you don't res immediately and when you do res you are crippled and have 1 smelly hit point.

I mostly buy cosmestic stuff like transmutation orbs and costumes and sometimes I buy a bank slot (these both were in GW1 btw). I still play the game "normally". I grind, play new characters and play dungeons with friends. And I've been blazing through Fractals without thinking "Ahh man, I really need dem revive orbz!".

This already stupid thread derailed wildly btw. Good job.

250 ectos is "real money spent", no matter which way you twist it.

The ring is RNG. I know several people who haven't received one at 20+ and are basically being carried through Jade Maw.

I don't know about you, but most people do WORK for their money in real life.

Why do gamers always think real money fall from the sky?  Yeah "lazy" people go to work to twiddle their thumbs everyday for their easy money unlike hardworking gold farmers in the game.

I don't, and didn't say anything to imply that. Get your head out of the discussion you are having with someone else, before you start on with someone else. You'll find out that they don't always are about the same thing

that lazy part (and this is a perfect example as to why you should end a discussion first, before continuening to anotehr one) was to thsoe who want everything handed to them on a silver platter.
