Notes/Terms
- It doesn't look like their were any real correlations (or at least the sample size is too small), though there may be slight trends
- Perhaps some of you statistics people can make better graphs?
- Unknown == People who entered questionable data (e.g. iitj - mistype, borderline, other?)
- For the most part, I had no idea what I was doing
- Yes, I know that the MBTI is inaccurate, inconsistent, and can be gamed. This was more for fun than for anything else. I may try to do a similar poll in the future with something like the Big5.
- If you want a more academically accepted assessment of your personality, try taking the Big5 (full version). Click here for the shorter (but less accurate) version.
- There are also a ton of other good personality tests out there if you're interested.
- If I made any mistakes, let me know. My brain is gone after working on this for so many hours ahaha.

Thanks for posting your results. I find the distribution of personality types to be interesting. Some of the rarest in the overall population are among the most common in the people you surveyed.

Ha very interesting, used to be borderline obsessed with MBTI. Looks like I'm a tad atypical for an INTP in my choice of profession.

Not surprised to see the tables flipped, with the majority of the player base being introverted rather then extroverted. Introversion doesn't mean you hate socializing, just that being around people is draining and being alone is rejuvenating. MMORPGs are one of the few great grounds introverts can come to to socialize without being as subject to the usual drain of interacting with others.

As a personality psychologist in training, this has me pulling my hair out of my head. STOP USING THE MBTI its not a good measure!!

Considering that INTJs are supposed to be only 2-3% of the population it is interesting they are so highly represented.

This is strange to me too. On the original poll thread someone posted (pg 3) that these online personality quizes tend to favor INTJ, no idea if that's true. I got INTJ and I think it fits me. Anyway, the same poster said that a better way would be for people to read about different personality types and choose which one they felt was them.

However, it could just be that the sample pool for some reason actually has a high pop. of INTJ personalities. I had a friend take the test (41q.com) and she got ISFP (41q's "Sensitive Doer") which we felt fit with her XD. So who knows what caused the irregularities.... it may just be common personalities in gamers since this survey wasn't just "anyone."

What would you consider as being a good measure? I took the MBTI test a few years back for an extra class and it was interesting to me at the time, curious if there's anything else I could read up on or check out

The MBTI is inconsistent and easily gamed, and there are much better tests available. I mostly used it because it's well known, simple, and quick, and since I wasn't doing this "for real". The MBTI has also been compared to astrology, in that the personality descriptions may be vague enough to apply to lots of people.

the most telling part of the whole survey is the number of introverts vs extroverts which is quite expected.

Does it have to be super accurate to be fun? no. Stop being so darn serious. It is not a controlled experiment. So continue to pull your hair out of your head not like anyone would care lol...

The MBTI was literally one of the very first attempts at developing a measure of personality. No measure is perfect, there are only better or worse as compared to one other. Using the MBTI to measure personality is like pulling a branch off a tree and using it as a ruler. You might get something close to what you were looking for but it wont be quite right.

Most pervasively used model of personality is called the 'Five Factor Model' of personality, or the 'big five' if you will. There are free versions of it everywhere on the internet.

If you're genuinely interested in personality assessment I would like to direct you to this website. http://ipip.ori.org/ This is a website full of FREE, SCIENTIFICALLY validated measures of personality. If you have any additional questions feel free to PM me.
