Hi guys! currently my trusty £3 mouse is having a mouse button 2 error.. Very annoying for playing gw2!

I'm looking at the 'Cyborg Rat3' It seems like just the right amount of buttons for me, nice looks and very well priced, Would like some opinions of what you guys use for GW2 though.
If anybody could give an opinion on the 'Rat3' it'd also help!

The R.A.T.3 has a lot of good reviews, so it should be a good unit. I don't have one myself - I use a Logitech G500 at this time, but I'm not heavily into using multiple mouse buttons. (I click on the screen icons or use the keyboard (G19) mostly.)
I only have the thumb buttons set to "Target nearest enemy" and "Jump" - and that's mostly so I can play with one hand while the Chihuahua sleeps on my left arm.
(And, obviously, I don't PvP that way. )

Only 3 buttons on a "gaming mouse"?

I really prefer playing with my Naga and its 12 thumb buttons plus 2 extra index finger buttons.  I can keep my left hand on WASDQE for movement and trigger skills/F1/weapon swap with thumb buttons.  My Naga died after 9 months and I had to go back to clicking on buttons with cheapo optical mouse while it was serviced.  There were things I just couldnt solo anymore.  Not having to click skills with the mouse really improves my play.

Yes, but conversely, I move using the mouse, which basically leaves my left hand free to use the keyboard, which has way more buttons that any mouse.

Can you sidestep and circle-strafe using just the mouse?  I have never figured out how to do that sort of thing.  I also dont think you can move one direction and torso twist your Mech to shoot sideways with only mouse movement, which is very important to me.

Mech? I've controlled a Golem, but not a Mech. Or are you referring to some other game? We're talking GW2 here. (and in my case, just PvE)  


But, no I can't circle strafe using just the mouse, but I can circle strafe using the keyboard and mouse.

(P.s - for those just reading this, no, I'm not suggesting that a mouse with many buttons is a bad thing. I'm just teasing dhat Cher one.)

I'm using a Razer Naga, GW2 may be a game where it's not really "necessary" due to not having as many active skills as other games but it's still incredibly convenient and comfortable for me. When it breaks down, I'll either replace it with another Naga or go for its Logitech equivalent. It's gonna sting my wallet again real hard though >< but it's just so damn comfortable!

I'm using  a G700 its really great! You can get all skills in the mouse, with very easy to use, no way you can go wrong with this one.

The naga for me has only the problem that you get the 12 buttons for one thumb alone and they are too close to each other.

I'm using a naga molten as well. Although I'm very tempted to switch to the Logitech one.

Owner of MMO7. Have tested Razer's mice and they are nice too. MMO7 for reason that I like all those buttons around my thumb and they are easy to recognize even in dark cause they not completely next to each other. Also there's shift-mode which you can push with your ring finger for other full set of buttons. If you don't need so many buttons the Cyborg 3 is nice too.

Hi... I use a rat 7 and my advice would be to not get a cyborg/saitek product (I'm very disappointed with mine). Let me list the reasons:

1. about 2 months since I bought it the DPI button (the button underneath the scroll wheel, the 1 button I never use) began peeling paint off. All of a sudden, it cracked and just started losing paint.
2. the sensor is pretty bad in my opinion. My previous mice were a logitech mx 518 (still best to me) and roccat kone. While the kone is also pretty bad, at least its sensor isn't utter crap. The RAT doesn't work well with my razer goliathus mouse pad at all (arrows skip, dance, jitter...). When I get it on other surfaces, it isn't as bad, but I still can't fine-aim it (e.g. when I work in photoshop, I can basically kiss the mouse goodbye, because any precision is a no-no with it)

edit - subsequently I did find out on a site somewhere that the sensor model they chose to put in it doesn't do well with dark rough surfaces and is generally pretty picky on what it works (dunno if it's true though, but it's true for me), for which in my opinion there's no excuse with mice of this price

3. when I went to get some sort of refund/warranty repair, the authorised dealer said they couldn't reproduce the problem (meaning the arrow thing) and totally ignored the paint peeling off. When I confronted them with it, they said it was mechanical damage from overuse or a drop. The button is receded (everything else would break before it - had it fell, which it didn't, and it's the button that makes the least sense would be overused since it's in a bad place to click, plus it only changes DPI). So they returned the mouse to me. Then I wrote to their HQ with what I experienced. They ignored me for a few of my e-mails (over a month+) 'till I said they'd be hearing from my lawyer (which I don't have, but like threatening with when companies blow me off). So they contact me and tell me to go back to the authorised service with their letter in which they say they have to give me a new mouse free, but the dealer blew me off again.

Now I'm stuck with a 100€ 6 month old mouse that's utter shit and I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemies... If i had no mouse now and wanted a gw2 mouse and all the money in the world, I'd go for a logitech g700 and gg. All these wannabe gaming companies are disappointing me over and over and I keep wondering why I'm so stupid to keep going with them over and over.

P.s. the customizability is neat, but it's a gimmick. You can play with it and get some extra pluses for your grip, but in the end, I don't think you can make it REALLY fit like a glove as they advertise it. Maybe with small hands. Maybe...

edit edit - since recently, it also started freezing up for like 1 sec in gw2 (don't do much else on my computer where im on the mouse 100% of the time, so most noticeable there). Everything else works, the game is running, I'm running with the keyboard, but the arrow just sticks for like 1 second before it restarts. A weird little bug.

Naga Hex here. 6 side buttons plus 2 on top and mouse wheel takes care of all skills and frees up left hand for only movement.

Very dependable too. I've used mine for more than a year and a half daily.

Bought the Naga Epic for this game and it has performed well so far.


Edit:- I also tried out my friends Steel Series WoW : Cataclysm mouse and it wasn't bad either(Did have fewer buttons though)

Lol, very funny! Taking the risk of being bias because i own one, i really enjoy it alot. Ihave now more than one year and its still as new. The buttons work perfectly and still click as if new.
Also you can use it wireless or not, just plug the cable and keep playing while it recharges the AA battery.

The G700 was way too heavy and the wheel was just not for me, so I got a Naga. Best mouse I've ever used so far and perfect for GW2.

I personally use buttons 1, 4, 7 and 10 for skills 7, 8, 9 and 0. This way I never have to move my hand from WASD when playing since I can reach skills 1-6 with my index finger.

Actually i'm doing things like this using Razer Naga. Just bind buttons to keyboard keys and i can do anything (except writing, which IS possible...but not comfortable at all). Ability to play game efficiently and eat pizza/popcorn/toast/anything that you like to eat is awesome.

All recent laptops come with Bluetooth capability as standard. Why can't my rig just "see" this mouse without the cradle being plugged in? My Logi G700 was the same, but that only required a micro dongle in the USB port.

Am I missing something? Am I really that dumb? Or is it just that way - Bluetooth devices MUST use their own receivers?

Tl;dr - expensive mouse for desktop users with prehensile thumbs.

An update too - it stopped working altogether this afternoon. No lights at all, matters not whether it's wireless or wired, in the cradle or plugged direct into the laptop - he's dead, Jim. I'm starting to mistrust Razer - are they really the same company as Madcatz - purveyor of shoddy, third-party console peripherals to the masses?

My Naga Molten died (lights and buttons worked, but no mouse movement) after 1.5 years of use.  Their tech support had me try a firmware update and a different PC, then gave me an RMA# and sent me a brand new one.  At least they seem willing to fix their problems without much hassle.

I never get wireless peripherals.  Invariably you will wipe a raid because your batteries die at the wrong time.


After about a month of practice, I found I can hit the thumb buttons on my naga pretty consistently (1-10 for skills, 12 for <F1>, extra index finger for weapon swap).  I havent set it up for Ele or Engineer yet (need F1-F4).

MMO7 here as well.

  Fantastic mouse except that the thumb button on mine came loose, and Cyborg is giving me a hard time about it.

   Currently it is taped to the mouse with black tape and still working, and I still love the mouse, just not the customer service.

   I'd buy another one, too....except for the $120 price tag.

it depends on what you are looking for.  i have a razer naga that im using right now and honestly, i think its a bit too much.

ive owned the naga, the cooler master xornet, the razer death adder and the logitech g9x.

after owning all these mice ive found that i prefer a smaller sized mouse thats not as small as the xornet but large enough to offer the palm type grip and is at least 1600DPI and has two buttons by the thumb placement.  one for auto run and one for VOIP services.

so basically im looking for something in between a naga and xornet.
