Hey,

I usually play the well known nade/rifle power build in dungeons, WvW and it - of course - works like a charm for AoE dps.
I now need a single target DPS build, since I want to farm one specific kind of mob and have no idea, what to pick.

Would you help me out and share your experiences?
Or should I roll another class for single mob farming - a thief for example?

I plan on farming for Charged Lodestones, since I want to farm my weapon myself, instead of buying the materials.

I'd like to have no down times, medium to high mobility (movement and attack speed wise, in order to tag mobs being killed by others) and the highest possible damage output, in order to maximize my kill rate/hour.

Thanks in advance!

I suggest this Static Discharge Build:

http://www.guildhead...MaMGx9MGVaomsMo

I use it when I am farming. It provides a very high burst damage. Just use Net Shot followed by Granade Barrage, Throw Wrench and Surprise shot. If the enemy survives use Jump Shot and Overcharged Shot to finish him.
The perma swiftness due to Speedy Kits should provide the mobility you need and the rifle has enough range to tag mobs far away.
Survivability is good because of the low cooldown heal of the Medkit.

I used this build to farm Snow Trolls and was pretty successful.

Thanks for the input, Waulmurf!

I tested your build and I don't feel to comfortable with it, sadly. Even when using Berserker Gear, I feel like dealing not enough damage while having to press too many keys (which I don't want to do, when I am farming mindlessly).

---

I spent some time on thinking about effective farming and came to following conclusion:
I'd like to run around, pull as many mobs as possible and kill them; using MF Gear completely.

What do you think about Bomb Kit for this? Of course, this does not fit my requirement of a single Target DPS build. But I changed my mind on that one.
Can you tell me, how the last patches changed the bomb kit? Is it worth it, for farming? Or is the lack of damage not worth it?

This is a sample build, which I just put together:

Any suggestions for this build? What to pick for the Grandmaster Firearms Trait?
As mentioned above, I'd like to:
Kill mobs fast (lvl 75-80+ Mobs); pull many together, if needed; survivability; all this with MF Gear (exotic).

Thanks for any input and suggestions!

I use a build very similar to that for dungeons with dual pistols. I absolutely love it. I run rifle as well for solo mobs so I can get out the whole rotation, but I use burning kick instead of grenade barrage since my gear is condition damage based.

Why not just stick to Grenade + Rifle? Swap to rifle to unload #3 and #5 on CD and swap back to Grenade and shred things to pieces point blank, there's almost no CD to worry about and you can kill things all day every day, aoe or not. :)

I believe the OP desires less AoE and more facemelt.  He wants to farm single mobs and is hoping someone has an answer to dish out more direct 1v1 dps.

I can't say as I am just now levelling my Engi and am sorta scrambling along feeling my way, but I do like thief for 1v1 burst dps (d/d).  However, I don't know about you but it takes me about 1.5-2 weeks to get from 1-80.  I play casual but more time than the average casual, a lot less than the avid hardcore.  Might not be worth the time unless you happent to want a thief in your stable of characters.

The single target I've seen is the rifle/ static discharge build, similar to the one linked above.  I use Rifle Turrent, Personal Battering Ram, and Rocket Boots or a racial as utilities, and I go 30/30/0/0/10, but the idea is similar.  There's no way to do a lot of damage without a lot of button presses as engineer, what with the extra four skills it's just the nature of the class.
