This event has alot of issues besides people not doing it.
Finally got it open with a guild party and some luck over the weekend, but only had 600k karma to spend...

I believe the people who run the Dragon Timer do have Badazar tracked. Unfortunately, for many servers, the interest seems to be virtually nonexistent. The fact that it's also an event that requires a little bit of cooperation and organization makes it even harder for people to run.
On my server, Melandru/Dwayna is almost always open. Grenth can be up depending on how many people are around, while Lyssa/Badazar is almost never available unless people specifically get together to try it.
(Yes, I know it's Balthazar. Ever since I saw the Plains of Ashford event I can't resist but to call him Badazar. <3)

They need to make it more rewarding so people other than those who hit the Karma level want to do it. Right now there seems to be no other reason other than a crappy chest of blues and greens. So now you have a handful of people at any given time with the amount of karma needed who can't get the number to do the event. I'll probably end up buying help

every single time i try to go to balth when i am on line it's not in our control, and every single time i tried to start the chain and do the meta few of the events got stuck. ATM southern, northern and central invasion are stuck on Seafarer's rest.
Also shards from FOTM are bullshit as they are even more prone to grindcore as after 50 dungeons i have for maybe 20 shards. while 1.5 mil of HARD earned karma that i've collected since day 1 of this game sits in my account and can't get spent

Investigated the event on my server (Isle of Jan) and found the reinforcements from one front standing idle in the middle of an open field, very common bug for a lot of events. For how important the vendor is I find it ridiculous that it has not been fixed or the shards moved to another vendor. They need to do one or the other asap.

I believe you are mistaken/misquoting.The manifesto stated something along the lines that there would be no grind required to experience everything the game has to offer. There is no "gear grind" to fully experience the game (arguable with fractal dungeons, but realistically you can experience each fractal before ever needing agony resistance). You can even get by using full 80 rares which are extremely cheap.
To say they lied in their manifesto because a LEGENDARY requires grinding... is stupid for lack of a better term. The whole point of the legendary items (and the item in question, obsidian shards) is that there IS something to GRIND for for the people who so choose. In no way are you forced into having a legendary.
As i mentioned, the fractals my represent a shifting from their manifesto, but that will be seen once more pieces come out.

this may be a key, on IoJ we did it with ~10 people and it didn't glitch.

The only time I saw the temple opened, it took a small army. The idea of using a smaller force is intriguing.

When the boss popped up we shouted in map chat for more people to come so we had maybe 20 people by the end of it.
