With bugs and no one even remotely trying to get it opened, shouldn't they change it to where you can get your shards from another area? Atleast put them in other shrine karma vendors. I understand farming FoTM is another way of getting shards, but when you already have the karma to get the shards you need, it's not a viable option. So what needs to be done about this?

That almost makes me wanna hop on Gandara for good. Temple of Balthazar isn't open on my world (Sanctum of Rall) for the last 2 days. And noone is ever even trying to open it. Too much of a headache and not really rewarding. They prefer running dungeons over and over again, do some WvWvW or map completion / leveling chars. I'll probably join Gandara, since that world is at least making efforts in doing stuff like that.

We've had some trouble getting the event to start. Then after getting it going, the pact troops would randomly get stuck on the steps going into the temple.

This event has alot of issues besides people not doing it.

Finally got it open with a guild party and some luck over the weekend, but only had 600k karma to spend...

Someone should start a tracker for servers with Balthazar info.  It could include scheduling of attempts and when it's open and more info I guess.  I'm close to having the Karma needed and I agree that it's not attempted enough with people doing other things.

I believe the people who run the Dragon Timer do have Badazar tracked. Unfortunately, for many servers, the interest seems to be virtually nonexistent. The fact that it's also an event that requires a little bit of cooperation and organization makes it even harder for people to run.

On my server, Melandru/Dwayna is almost always open. Grenth can be up depending on how many people are around, while Lyssa/Badazar is almost never available unless people specifically get together to try it.

(Yes, I know it's Balthazar. Ever since I saw the Plains of Ashford event I can't resist but to call him Badazar. <3)

Well what do ya know... I never clicked on the other tab on Dragon Timer.  But yes, it's very rare to have people even attempting it. The timer also has 30 expired events on my server so not sure what that means. I guess maybe it's rolled over 30 times without anyone updating it.

They need to make it more rewarding so people other than those who hit the Karma level want to do it. Right now there seems to be no other reason other than a crappy chest of blues and greens.  So now you have a handful of people at any given time with the amount of karma needed who can't get the number to do the event.  I'll probably end up buying help :)

yeah if only it would be easy for everyone to "get a team" or if only most of the parts of the chain wouldn't bug and got stuck in 99% of the time

every single time i try to go to balth when i am on line it's not in our control, and every single time i tried to start the chain and do the meta few of the events got stuck. ATM southern, northern and central invasion are stuck on Seafarer's rest.
Also shards from FOTM are bullshit as they are even more prone to grindcore as after 50 dungeons i have for maybe 20 shards. while 1.5 mil of HARD earned karma that i've collected since day 1 of this game sits in my account and can't get spent

It's a good thing no gear tread mill nor tedious grinding exists in this game.  Anet did a superb job on their manifesto.  And to think they don't need to fix bugs but instead can create more gear to grind for future inclusions, man...what a great game and awesome company.

I miss the original GW dev team, so long fun.

IDK I've only ever done it once and we had a massive team...yet we couldn't do it. I've never attempted to do it again.

Smaller teams are more likely to get it than a big group. All that does is scale it up and result in a bunch of people sitting dead at the final stage instead of using the WP and running back like they are supposed to.

Investigated the event on my server (Isle of Jan) and found the reinforcements from one front standing idle in the middle of an open field, very common bug for a lot of events. For how important the vendor is I find it ridiculous that it has not been fixed or the shards moved to another vendor. They need to do one or the other asap.

Yeh, on SOS. Don't bring more than 20 people to cap it, the fewer the better.

I believe you are mistaken/misquoting.The manifesto stated something along the lines that there would be no grind required to experience everything the game has to offer. There is no "gear grind" to fully experience the game (arguable with fractal dungeons, but realistically you can experience each fractal before ever needing agony resistance). You can even get by using full 80 rares which are extremely cheap.

To say they lied in their manifesto because a LEGENDARY requires grinding... is stupid for lack of a better term. The whole point of the legendary items (and the item in question, obsidian shards) is that there IS something to GRIND for for the people who so choose. In no way are you forced into having a legendary.

As i mentioned, the fractals my represent a shifting from their manifesto, but that will be seen once more pieces come out.

this may be a key, on IoJ we did it with ~10 people and it didn't glitch.

I for one do not really see Fractal tokens taking the place of karma as the main source of Obsidian Shards.  At three runs per Shard, that would be about 1443 runs (depending on your luck).

The only time I saw the temple opened, it took a small army.  The idea of using a smaller force is intriguing.

Well, we had ~10 leading up to the fight with the boss. And that was just the party leading up to the temple. A five man party from my guild was able to complete the escort mission to get the reinforcements back to base.

When the boss popped up we shouted in map chat for more people to come so we had maybe 20 people by the end of it.
