Well now that Orr is dead...

Are AC runs profitable? How about fractals? Have people gone back to farming Trolls or Grawls?
Or with the current prices, is Cursed Shore still the place to be in terms of earning gold?

Fractals are profitable after about level 3 from what I've heard, but since I still can't find a group that can last through level 1 this is only hearsay. I haven't seen a lot of people farming trolls or grawls or anything recently, but doing any of that is still viable assuming you are selling fine crafting mats (claws, blood, etc.), and if you do it in a high-level area like frostgorge there is always the possibility of getting a corrupted lodestone, although not guaranteed.
If you have a good group, dungeon running the dungeons that can be done faster (AC, CoF, TA) can yield a decent amount of gold. With a good group, all paths of AC explorable can be done in about an hour and yield 1.5-2g overall after merching the crap items, plus you can farm up a ton of tokens and sit on them for a while, then buy a bunch of exotics with the tokens and mystic forge/salvage for ecto. TA gives higher level drops, so more money from merch, and CoF you can use the tokens on the rare armors and salvage them for ectos (since they are level 70, you can do this with CoE, Arah, and HotW as well, but CoF is fastest). Dungeon running is currently the main way I make money as it is at least more interesting than sitting on Penitent Path was while praying an ele didn't show up and ruin how much you can tag.
For saying that they thought drop rates were "abysmal" and saying that they were going to increase drop rates, its pretty obvious anet nerfed regular zone farming to force people into the new content in the fractals. Really glad that on my server I can still almost always find groups running dungeons over fractals, as I haven't really been as impressed by them as I thought I was going to be.

I think after 6 fractals 1.5 hours (we werent high level, were new to some of the fractals) I made 1.5g in cash and had 6 or 7 yellow/orange items to sell, salvage at the end. Might have even made mroe cash if I bothered to check if any greens sell well.

On my server there's still a lot of people running dungeons. And after all, why not? There's always people that want some specific skins for their characters or alts. Runs in AC, CoF, TA don't take very long if you skip mobs and bosses whenever possible and just go for the end-boss and tokens; usually you still get a chest or 2 with 6-10 blues, greens and an occasional gold as well.

I still feel I get about the same amount of stuff as before, in some cases even more.
"Most" people that routinely farmed Orr believe there was a nerf to rare drops from normal mobs. Obviously, we can't prove it, but I'm willing to bet you're in the minority of people that feel rare drops have actually increased overall.
Personally, I believe they increased rares/exotics from bosses and chest rewards, but off-set that increase by decreasing the drop rates from normal mobs...partially to minimize the impacts of farming places like Orr and partially to push people to the Flavor of the Month crap. Also the reason why they made changes to Plinx.

I think you are right, I am definitely seeing more non-crafted exotics being pumped into the TP than before the FOTM update.

Despite saying they were going to *increase* them, yep.
To the OP: only viable farming area is FotM now, both because it has better drops than any other area in the game and because no one is playing anything else (due to it having the best drops).

Drops got improved not nerfed. They raised chances for rares and exotics to drop.

Sounds like you are speculating - show me the links to prove your remarks "Drops got improved not nerfed. They raised chances for rares and exotics to drop."
Well considering it wasn't possible to get exotics in AC, and now I get one every two paths (on average) yes I would say they are improved. No proof other than my experience.

Please put their source code on GitHub since you seem to have access to it, otherwise I call bullshit.

Don't be an idiot. I'm not a freaking employee at their company. All I can refer to is what they've told us. You say they've lied, meaning you've made a claim of dishonesty in their marketing which would not only be a federal crime, but goes against several UN agreements such as the CISG. But do you have anything to back up your claim? No. You just push your burden of proof onto that guy who disagrees with you on an unofficial forum. You have nothing but your personal rage and justify yourself by saying that the big, mean, company lied to us.
Fact is Arenanet have stated that they've improved the droprate. That's what we have to go by. If you find that there's a problem with it, perhaps a miscalculation on their part or that they've actually gone and lied to us, then that's another issue. But don't push this shit on me. I am just another player of the game, and you know that.

Regarding drops: I think I've not only been getting a few more rares and occasional exotic, but also luckier salvages as well. Racking in *tons* of ectos here.

That's actually one of the things I don't like about GW2. It feels like you have to play the TP to have nice things. Farming gold straight up is ridiculous, it's so much better to just buy/sell for gold and do whatever you want while playing.
EDIT: By the way, it doesn't matter much if they increase drop rates or not. If they do, the prices drop so you have to farm more drops to get the same gold/hr as before. Increasing the drop rates can help if you're farming for the stuff that's dropping (say you need ecto, then the drop rate increase helps). But if you're farming gold it's not going to help you much, if at all.

And I'm sure there's never been a change that was bugged and was doing something other than what they intended and claimed it should be doing in the patch notes.
OH WAIT NO. That has happened a BUNCH of times.
Unless you have the source code to verify, you can't say "it's a fact they increased drop rates" and you are simply talking out of your ass, regardless of what it says in the patch notes.

After all, they're the ones that have access to the aggregate data rather than individual anecdotes.
