Meanwhile all my guild mates I've run with have at least 2, most with 3 and a couple have 4. I've always had awful luck with RNG but this is a joke and highlights a big problem with Fracs. No guaranteed drop at any point personally  just kills any desire to go on. Doing the same stuff but doesn't appeal, especially when the so called sense of progression isn't there as was the point of ascended items.

Am I just this unlucky or have others had the same happen to them?

yeah the RNG element should dissapear from an item that is required for progression.I can understand having randomness on weapon skins,but not on an item that you actually need.

First of all, if you want a ring, why are your doing level 11 ? The ring drop in Level 10 daily chest, of course you are unlucky , because you are doing the wrong level lol.

Also by daily chest, we are not talking about the big chest that spawns after defeating the Maw, the daily chest only appear once a day like the daily achievement chest. The daily chest only appears after defeating the Maw, that means you can only find it in level 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and so on, But if you want ascended rings, you need to play level 10, 12, 14, 16 etc.

I thought rings drop from 10+ not specifically 10.

As the others have stated, it's from lvl10 and onwards, reinforced by the fact that I did state my guild mates who I do Fracs have recieved them from the same runs.

however fractal dailys 5x done? you have done it 0x

the daily chest is only from even numbered fractal 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 etc. etc. only from these you get the daily chest. and you only get it 1x each 10 levels. so between 2-8 you get one then again 10-18 and you can get another one at 20 or up but not twice in the same range.

They drop from the "achievement reward"-like chest that you get the first time of the day you defeath the kraken boss (so only on lvl10-12-14-16 etc).
So one chance a day, only if you beat that boss.

Do you 'need' the ring for anything besides the fractal dungeons?

you do not they plainly give slightly better stats but are mostly for 'agony' resistance. agony is a debuff enemys in the higher fractals will apply on you. so it is plainly for in the fractrals only thus far

Wow the amount of misinterpretation is amazing. I've done the lvl11 fractal every day for the past 5 days, and thus have received 5 chests total. Out of these 5 chests I haven't received a single ascended ring, whilst the guild mates I've run it with have all received at least 2 by this point.

It does not matter if you do it on an even numbered level, rings dropped from my friends regardless plus prior to this specific runs I'd done the lvl10 daily a few times and received nothing there too.

Why are the rings not on the vendor? They should give you an option of looting one by chance or outright working on buying one via fractals. I think their concept of this entire idea is misleading. If I wanted random crap from chests I would turn to the gem store. Don't screw people over who put foot to ass to earn it.

stop putting need in quotes.yes you do NEED it to progress,because after lvl 20 agony is just a pain in the ass,and 10 agony res is not enough anymore

I meant outside of dungeons. I am totally serious and not in any way trying to belittle anyone's point of view. I just don't know the answer. So, I will restate:

Outside of the fractal dungeons, will I 'need' these rings for WvW or other PvE stuff?

I'm asking because if I DO 'need' them, I will 'need' to start working towards them and 'need' to start asap.

Not right now, but arenanet have stated that you will need agony resistance for future end-game content.

EDIT: atm, you can only get agony resistance from those rings and the backslot. (max 10per piece)

Nope the stat difference with exotic rings is minimal. Only thing people want them is for the agony resistance (which is a fractals-specific thing so far).

no matter what the qqers on guru tell you,NO,the ascended gear is not needed outside fractal progression.Fortunately,a player's skills at traiting and playing his char trumps stats on gear in this game.

That is true presently, but it has not been the direction the game has been moving towards since the introduction of Agony. Agony is a gated mechanic, requiring people to advance via skill to a certain difficulty before they will become equipment dependent. No matter how good you are as a player with his/her skill and build, Agony will melt your face and you will be reduced to a puddle of goo on the dungeon floor. No other aspect in Guild Wars 2 requires x gear. It is the beginning of a very slippery slope hence why the outrage.

Fractals are meant to increase in unending levels of difficulty.  You are not meant to be able to reach an end.  Unless I've missed some recent update, there is nothing special or unique as you progress in the fractals.  The maps are all the same.  Only the difficulty increases.  I would hardly call it "necessary" to grind for special gear if all it gets me is a few more meaningless fractal levels.

Although I've heard rings drop in every level, our group (including me) has only thus far gotten them from dailies on the even fractals 10+ levels. It's not a very popular drop, either, which is frustrating. I think it's pretty asinine that you pretty much need agony resistance to continue, and the only way to do that aside from grinding lower levels for the back piece is to hope for a random drop. I did hear rumor it was originally intended to be a sure drop the first time you run dailies 10, but I can't confirm. Either way, bad design, as it is possible to get to 20 without even 5% agony resistance... making things twice as hard as it needs to be.

As for the gear debate, I honestly don't like my ring for stats and I don't use it outside of fractals. It doesn't give me what I want (healing power), and is pretty much a downgrade when I use it. The only benefit to wearing it is the agony resistance, which I can understand as a mechanic... but it's not the glorified stat booster that some make it out to be, and certainly not outside of fractals itself. The same, imo, goes for the back piece. It's not about stats, really, but the fun of the dungeon, and (in terms of the back piece) the skins.

Ok, hear me out, what you open in level 11 are bosses chests, as far as I know, you cannot get an Ascended ring fro those chest, but , in level 10 you have the Maw Boss chest + the daily chest (this is the chest where the ring comes from). You can get rings dropped from mobs, chests etc, from level 20+.

Not yet.

But all signs indicate that eventually you will need the gear.
