At the very least, you should quit berating real PvP players and their thoughts on how the gear bias effects them.
Bout time for you to be spamming LA for a Fractals group isn't it? More scripted instances to conquer.
Wow, I guess that makes you not a real PVP player since you sound butthurt over losing to some PVE players because they had a slight stat increase. Infact it makes you sound pretty bad at PVP all together, but don't worry little guy. Keep it up and one day your tears will make a river and you can sail down it to where the wild things are.
Maybe stop trying to act superior and people will stop realizing how hard you're trying to overcompensate.

Right now it is Time>skill and player numbers ("coverage")> overall skill for WvW.
I would much prefer if skins/content were "endgame" like in GW1 instead of more "levels" and "higher stats".

Your argument doesn't make any sense.
Why would a real PVPer not want some semblance of parity so that they can test their skill against other players?

You bring enough of that for the rest of the class?

I've done it before, I'll do it again....no problem.
..but I'll be dammed if I am going to run the "endless dungeon" for it.
They need to make Badge gear available, and while they're at it...make badge gear that doesn't look like something cobbled together out of someone else's trash.
I wear LIGHT ARMOR guys.....not a bathrobe. Got that?
Light Armor.
NOT bathrobe.
Thank you.

On a more related note:I think that from now on, I'll just be enjoying GW2 at a nice, slow and easy pace. I'm a freak for awesome looking armor, which is what hooked me into GW1/GW2 in the first place. Certainly a shame that they chose this path, though

I'll take the bottle!
Look guys, I get that nobody wants to grind endless dungeons to get gear to go out and PvP. It's hardly a game breaker in my opinion. They are looking into a way to make the gear accessible via WVW. It's not like this is Diablo 3 where gear only generates from drops and usually 7-10 levels lower than your character.

So let's suppose they do, what are possible ramifications of this?
As gear earned in WvW will be usable in PvE as well, will the grind (for tokens perhaps) be as steep as the grind required in PvE?
If they make the grind in WvW easier than that in PvE, will it draw non-PvPers into WvW?
Would this be a good thing or would it mean the battlegrounds will be full of people interested only in tokens and not defending or working together?

The first question is subjective. One man's steep is another man's piece of cake. If they were to make the grind in WvW easier, my personal feeling is that it would definitely draw more people in. They would learn fast enough that both defending and working together makes the grind that much easier.
Think about the last time you were on an arrowcart or cannon during a siege and how many times you had to pause and pick up loot.

Additionally, gear needs to have varieties of stats, and also look enormously better than the Invader and other barebone stuff available in WvW, compared to the variety from dungeons and sPVP.
But the problems don't stop even if they do this. Making WvW players grind for new tiers, even within WvW itself, is going to alter the play style of many players. Who is going to want to sit and defend a position, when they need to grind badges to keep up with the Joneses? WvW then becomes less about winning or competition, and more about the most efficient method to acquire the gear.
Some might suggest this is already something that could happen with existing gear, but if it does, its a very short term problem since its so easy to get exotics in other avenues. When I hit 80, much of it in WvW, I already had enough karma for 3 exotics and gold for 1 or 2 more. Halfway to the plateau just playing the game normally. That will likely not be the case with the extent of grind required for Ascended Gear in WvW, if they want to make it on par with the requirements of PVE acquisition.

Any of you honestly just used one set of gear through most of DAOC?
Cause if I wasn't RvRing on my characters, I was working on new builds, Trying to come up with new ideas constantly..in fact i will flat out say on my characters alone, I probably made over 100 sets of armor in DAOC through out my time coming up with new combinations.
Now in this game, I'm actually less likely to do that..Cause the stats aren't honestly going to win the fight.... Because I fought plenty of people with Orbs before they were removed, and they gave far more of a bonus then anything this Ascended Gear could ever give.

Chris is openly addressing WvW, even though that isn't his main occupation, and clearly stated that WvW players won't be forced in any way to run dungeons to gear up for WvW. The fact that Ascended gear is now available only true the Fractals dungeons is considered a mistake they want to correct very soon. He stated that at least 5 or 6 times.
The only appalling thing here is you ignoring all that and people blindly believing you...
well talk is cheap, I will believe it when it happens. So far, anything PvP or WvW related has been taking a backseat to PvE, it's obvious Anet wants to cater to the PvE carebears that migrated from games like WoW.

The take away here is that constantly evolving and improving gear stats are planned. While Chris says there is no plan for another named Tier like Ascended he says clearly that an ongoing gearing progression is intended via things like infusions or other 'loot' that can improve existing Tier gear stats.
OK so we don't have a new Tier .... just ongoing gear stat improvement to existing Tiers?? Somehow this is different?
Now Chris spins this by saying the gear curve will be shallow and the grind will be easy. If I had a dollar for every time a game developer made those statements to rationalize their thought they needed gear progression in their game I would be a rich man.
I could care less what they do with PvE content and the gear treadmill there. I would rather stick a sharp stick in my eye than run Fractals endlessly. But all of this impacts WvW.
how can you even say that it will have impact in the one thing that has lvl 1 players with white and lvl 80 players with full exo sets in the same place and some stupid power up system that "should" boost evenly players from lower levels to lvl 80 that is not full proof? few more players that will have 10% stronger stats (and that's a big IF they raise stats that much), wont make a difference at all as the whole WvW relays on pug zergs in the end. you will be in extremly rare situations in a 1v1 one fight, and in 99.99% cases no one will fill the difference between full exo set or full exo + ascend set. Get a grip that wvw will never get balanced until pug zergs are broken, jumping puzzles are moved out of wvw, culling is fixed as are other massive fps drops or lags. Also you can't balance something that has in any given moment some random amount of players (as there are servers and times when some servers are full others aren't) it would be like playing but starting game without any random number of pieces. Ascended gear won't brake WvW as it is already sooo broken (and mostly unfair) Also biggest problem of the Ascended gear being a grind at the moment, is the fact that after the bot bans and after the precursor rain in the last shore event market has crased and most of the t6 mats or even globs that were extremely cheap before have became too expensive to put 250 of any of them in the forge for most of the players to get ascended out of it. If the market gets balanced so will the prices and availability of the ascended gear stabilize too and every random player will be able to get it in maybe a weak of CASUAL play

End of the day, from about 2007-2010, I probably played 2000+ (actual) hours of various PvP formats in GW1 with hardly any PvE at all. I enjoy a lot of the concepts of WvW, but there's nothing fun about having to spend so much time playing PvE for junk and / or playing the TP game to get money for WvW. That's why I am going to take a break from it, at least until other serious problems are remedied.

Gradually increasing stats will result in a grind especially if these stats require grinding of any kind to attain.
If gradual increasing stats are to be the norm then WvW will have to use the same balanced gear from sPvP or it will be broken.
