uh no?
Double tapping is much faster and more controllable then having to press any other button plus a movement. If you cant control with camera angles then practice a bit more. There are some nuances with how dodging works at different camera angles and repetitive dodging in an offset camera angle, but if your reason for not double tapping is that you stop moving for a second then either you or your keyboard settings are to slow/low.

I use left ctrl to dodge, I too had dodge issues whenever I want to ie: enable/disable auto attack.
So I just use right-ctrl left click instead.

I use the first for my first skill, and my second for my elite... I just can't reach the 0 with my left hand...
May I suggest an alternative?
I use shift+1 for healing skill
Shift+2-3-4 for utilities
Shift 5 for elite
Alt1-2-3-4 for the functions skills.
Been paying PvE, sPvP with my engineer and everything is real quick. And engineers are amongst the most variable in terms of function skills.

Ah, ok, you were referring to the black/blue cherry switch diatribe.
Well, to be honest, my Filco is a blue-switches one, and they're advertised as "best for typing", and indeed they are. I just don't get the part when they say that they're not the best for gaming: honestly, I used the keyboard for a lot of games, including GW2, and I don't have a single problem with it. I see that your keyboard has the black switches, did you ever try the blue ones?
Regarding double tap for dodge: I am in all honesty curious about how you can seriously play, especially in PvP, with the double tap dodge - I used it, and the fact that, when moving in a specific direction AND I wanted to dodge in that direction, the character stops from a little time before dodging is, to me, a liability. About using mouse buttons, I use the M4 key as the shift, the 7-9 utilities are bound to S+1/3, the heal is bound to the mouse wheel left and the elite to the mouse wheel right (on a G9X mouse). I mainly play thief though, so I just need F1 as the special ability (bound to M5), and Q to switch sets and E/R to call/get target.

Hmm, should try that... But I like my elite on my first mouse button too

Eehm how is losing a split second on your movement twice for double tapping faster than pressing a other key once without needing to lose your movement key???
If you can't handle pressing shift/capslock while moving doesn't mean other people can't..
I used double tap in the BWE's and first week of play, then I discovered that for tPvP doubletap was clearly suboptimal, so I changed.
btw the only buttons I use on my keyboard are WASD, shift for dodge, space for jump and F for various things.
All skills/professions specific stuff is on my mouse..

And im saying you need to adjust your repeat rate if your losing time on double tapping.
And congrats on only using WASD? not sure why you added that bit... I've got a naga and use it for some of the extra buttons, but its more comfortable to use the gamepad on my steelseries.

Oh, yeah, sorry: on topic: double tap to dodge sounds very impractical.

Whatever your repeat time is..
I can't see how you think, letting go - pressing - letting go - pressing is faster than just press shift?

I spend a lot of time at the pc not only for gaming, but for work, I type a lot and since I got the Filco, I am effectively less fatigued even after long sessions of typing.
And I've to disagree about the "mech. keyboards suck for gaming", I play better on the Filco than I was on the G510 or the Nostromo. Of course, there's an ergonomic argument, which is different for every player/hand (dimension of the palm, finger length, etc.), but I generally prefer a slight higher key height and less actuation force needed even when playing.
Depends on the type of switch in your mechanical keyboard. They require less force to actuate, but because for some switches there is no tactile feedback, you end up "bottoming-out" your keystrokes. Good for gaming, not good for typing.

Infact Raspberry has a keyboard with black switches, which provide no tactical or acoustical feedback at all. For typing, brown (only tactile feedback) or blue (tactical and acoustic feedback) switches are better. I'm still not convinced, though, that black switches are better for gaming thou. Generally speaking, ofc.

more convenient really. and an argument could be made that the travel time to hit shift=time to double tap. depending on setup.
Its really more personal preference. I know what you mean about the stutter, it was happening when i first started playing, but by adjusting repeat time and i guess just doing it alot removed any kind of delay.

I personally use Cherry red's (same design as black but less resistance). I've really liked it, but it really depends on the type of game as to whether or not it helps (MOBA, FPS, etc.)

My pink is always hovering over the shift button so there is not really a "travel-time".
But yea I guess it all comes down to personal perference.
