Well, i just find fun sometimes when a thread pops, talking about anomalies of certain mats (someone said lodestones or precursors? :P ) not realizing what is truly going on ^_^

Order armor is around 8-9g total isn't it? Not sure if it's max though. I do know t2 cultural is around 7g, but that one is rare.

Order isn't max

but frankly max armor is really easy to get through dungeons, of course the people who are looking for certain stat combinations not offered by karma merchants or dungeons get shafted

I know for a fact that botters do this now. I wasn't talking solely about the rich vein either. If you think exploiters use level 80 characters to mine the rich vein then you're awfully close minded. Even a level 1 character can mine that node and the tool allows you to instantly teleport there.

Can't deny this. I've seen it happen often that characters just appear at the node (usually in their underwear), mine and disappear. The speed at which they start operating means they do not have a loading screen going on at that moment and they are thus teleporting around.

The problem is they nerfed dye drops into the ground and now the prices are outrageous. They are clearly trying to force people into the cash shop on this one.

I got 2 dyes in 5 minutes today in WvW (both obnoxious pink colors that I had to use on my giant Norn ranger), and I got 1 earlier today in PvE while harvesting a plant node.  Before that I didn't get any for a couple of days.  It is all part of the RNG, not that dyes not nerfed.

Except they did modify the dye drop rate. They stated that they did.

Yeah, you would think people would be used to this kind of thing. Especially after the precursor monopoly that was going on the first month or so.

Key to all of this is foresight and luck..... then you can get the money to be one of the market influences :D

Yes they did.  They said they put it back to what it was supposed to be after it was accidentally giving way to many.  Its like if you go to the ATM ask for $20 and get $40 instead.  Then you complain when the ATM gets fixed and starts giving on $20 like its supposed too.

Horrible analogy is horrible.
It's okay to enjoy crap if you're willing to admit it's crap.
Every patch is like ArenaNet walking out onto the stage of the International Don't Kitten Up Championship, and then proceeding to shiv itself in the stomach 30 times while screaming "IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!"

that's a horrible analogy because you didn't account for variability. Dye drop is not a set rate, you don't get 1 dye drop every 5 mob or whatever and then they messed it up and we get 2 dye drop every 5 mob or 1 dye drop every 2 mob...etc.

Nevermind the fact that drop rates have one purpose in mind in this type of model.

To strike a balance of generating revenue by being prohibitive enough that people willing to pay money to shortcut it by buying dye packs or just plain old gold off the store to buy the dye they want off the TP.

Those players are supposed to be viewed by the non-buying half as impatient and non-virtuous and deserve to be bilked out of their money.

But at the same time, not look like their drop rate is so prohibitively grindy that it gives the appearance they are only going to reward people who pay them cash for their shortcuts.

Nevermind the fact that ArenaNet pretty much only lauds the customer who's going to spend money beyond the initial game purchase.

It's like that guy behind the counter shouting at you that this is not a lending library.

When the playerbase is capable of generating its own revenue and rewards through actually playing the game is when ArenaNet stops making money.

You can say they have a right to make money.  And they sure do.

But their current model is about as sick as playing Theme Park and giving out cheap sodas and charging 10 bucks for the toilet.

this has nothing to do with inflation, and everything to do with less bots providing the items you mention.

Yes, by dungeon running and doing dailies for karma it's pretty easy to get exotic gear (not jewelry & runes though).
Order & cultural are just gold/subpar for a lot of money, so just for the looks.

If you want different stats/looks - and exotic jewelry - it requires a lot of extra effort though.

I wonder how many drop rates are actually just real lucky 'flukes', weird spikes of certain successful drops that pop up on the graphs and confuse the developers. Maybe it would explain why they were confused about the dye drop rates.

Or (in an attempt for myself to remain neutral) they just nuked the drop rate so they become more expensive. Also likely (also, what the hell, man!).
