Since we've had LOTS of posts in pretty much every forum each month from people expecting the reset to be at midnight in ArenaNet's timezone, I figured a reminder that it will reset at midnight GMT (4pm on the 30th November PST) would be worthwhile.

Time converter to work out when that is in your timezone:
http://www.timeandda...iso=20121201T00

Hopefully we'll have fewer upset people who thought they had one more evening to work on it this month. :)

I didn't feel like running dungeons, so I'll miss my first monthly. :(

Thanks for the reminder, though!

Just got it done yesterday, thinking there was no way I'd complete the karka and WvW bits. Was more than happy to log off immediately after reaching the WvW quota. I just loathe it.

A little update on the monthlies to anyone who hasn't heard: they give you 45,000 karma upon completion due to the Jugs of Liquid Karma - well more than enough for an entire piece of exotic Orrian temple armor.

Got mine today and was very pleasantly surprised.

I really loved their initial idea of dailies rewarding people as they first log in, something to help the casuals catch up. But then, slightly before the release, they started talking about how dailies will reward the first "few hours" and that was such an insane shift in their design. A person playing that much doesn't need this bonus - they are already playing enough.
These rewards should be aimed at making people log in for 30 to 60 minutes each day.

Haha I use the dailies (and crafting) to level my elementalist, I really can't bring myself to play her through the game, extremely squishy as she is. With approx. 1 level a day she'll be 80 within 3 weeks ^^

Yes I was just thinking about a 60 minute time frame. A person looking to complete their dailies could potentially complete their dailies in an hour or just slightly more...but that assumes he/ she literally speed runs all 3 paths of a dungeon (and is able to find a competent team to do just that), then has an alt to harvest nodes plus go for the daily variety kill. For somebody to spend all of their log in time just to get the dailies is going to be a grind to some degree, which is why the ultra casual are probably going to give it a miss.

It depends on where you play/what you do. It is possible to do the dailies in about 45-60 minutes once you've hit about level 12 to 15 (I got it in 55 minutes one stress test on a new character, but it was harder to find enough variety that wasn't too strong for me) - high enough that you can roam the whole of one of the starter areas.  Getting 15 different kill types is easier in those (or later in places like Gendarrin Fields) - there's usually lots of different mobs there fairly close together. The starter areas also often have a lot of events running (not always, but often), that you can run between for the 5 events required while gettting the kill variety. And depending on which area you pick, harvesting the herbs can give you vanilla beans (Asura/Sylvari) or peppers (Charr), so they can be worthwhile income-wise.

But - that does assume you're logging in to do the daily, not to play normally. However, if you've been playing normally, it's a good way to get the end of it finished in 10-15 mins - and those areas are all accessible free from LA via Asura gates. ;)

The last monthly was lvl 80 exclusive due to the inclusion of the fractals which as far as I can tell require a level 80 character to play. Not all of us have an 80 yet for varying reasons (alt-a-holic here) but it means that previously reachable monthlies were no longer achievable.
Heres hoping that isnt the same for the upcoming month.

Oh well, the December monthlies require fractals again making this lvl 80 achievable only. Thats two months in a row. I get that they want to encourage people to do the new content but Im pretty let down that it means it is to the exclusion of other players.

I can get through fractals just fine, but I can't even get through AC story mode, so I'm glad to see the normal dungeon achievement gone.

Lower level characters are apparently sidekicked up to level 80 in fractals, so they can also do it. I'm guessing that finding a pug group that will take them on the other hand is probably harder.

Completing their daily was not really the reward I thought casuals were meant to get. I mean prior to karma jugs that is. It was 5s(at 80) and a mystic coin, which is largely useless to a casual player. Rather the first few things they do in the game every day rewards them with a little bit more exp. That's how I saw it, and liked it for that. As I see it, it still applies.

And that jug of karma is just that little bit of incentive :)

Maybe they said "in the first few hours" but you can easely complete the daily within 20 minutes of play.
If you can't even get that..
