If you're set on discovering new recipes, there is quite a number of material you'd need to acquire, I'm assuming you have the adequate resources:
* 1 of each lodestone
* 1 of each T6 fine material
* Eldritch scroll, mystic coin, philosopher's stone, crystals, Elonian wine, ectoplasm, obsidian
* if you're "rich", try to go for gifts other than Metal/Energy/Wood
* one of each high-end weapon part (orichalcum/ancient wood)
* Large skulls/Giant eyes are a possibility but there's already some recipes with them
With all this you do mix-matching while checking this list http://wiki.guildwar...rge/Other_Items and this page http://wiki.guildwar...ki/Mystic_Forge , and update the "unknown recipes" section if you find anything.
I've been wanting to do this for a while but I don't have the money for it.

ya. you want to discover a recipe that no one has before, but you want someone to give you said recipe.
makes complete sense

Or you could actually do what you're telling other people to do and research the lists of known forge recipes, where it tells you what has and hasn't been tried.
