I love the TP, & when i'm not out questing/killing I like to spend most of my time buying/selling/browsing. While i'm on the TP I like to just "hang out" in FireBreak Fort for the following reasons:

1./ The bank is right next to the TP :)

2./ The loading screen for Mount Maelstrom reminds me of my wonderfull Magmas Shields. (Old School!)

3./ It's never very crowded & the fire is very homely.

So I was wondering if anyone else has any "Hang Out" spots, and what it is that made you choose them?

I like Divinity but also Ebonhawke, where you have a similar setup with bank and TP next to each other.

Too bad the TP often doesn't load and I have to restart GW2 to make it work again.

Rata Sum is the best design in any city I seen. The proximity of the banks, TP, and every crafting station is a short run down the hall. The zone loads fast, is not busy and no lag

Honestly, usually Lions Arch.
Originally because it was free to go to from each zone, but now I usually warp there so there's no real reason to go there...

Rata Sum sounds interesting, but lies far from the upper zones where I spend most of my time at the moment (AC, HotW).

I also enjoy browsing the TP when I'm bored or waiting.

Hall of Monuments. The one place I can guarantee nobody will be there to spam.

Lion's Arch but only when looking for groups for dungeons. The TP is a small run across the mystic forge, which can be a pain sometimes, especially when you get a notification saying that you bought something on the TP after just being there.
I would love to hang out in other cool areas, but eh... I'm always wanting to play the game rather than sit around or play the TP.

I think you want "homey" which means pleasant and inviting. Homely means ugly.

But I agree. Great place with all the lava animation and fun DE's.

Salma district!  Many of my guild's characters have their "homes" in the homiest of home instances, as a placebo for the hopefully inevitable player housing.  If we're not in Salma, we're in the sylvari home instance, which, once we found the upward ramp to the upper pods, is almost as good as salma!  For those like myself for whom player housing is more about an "invitational" social experience, and less about decorating, the home instance fulfills most of my/our housing and hanging out needs! :)

Hang out?! HANG OUT?! I don't have time to "hang out"! I've got towers and supply camps to cap! If I "hang out" to long anywhere a Zerg will show up, kill me, and take all the supply! The Eternal Battlegrounds doesn't take kindly to folks who "hang out"...

I might stay on WvW waiting people clear the JP for me so i can go.

Or stay on LA near the TP.

Pretty much these 2.

I don't know that I actually "hang out" since I like to be doing something and if I'm not I'm more inclined to log out and play a different game than to stare at the screen or indulge in the intelligence insulting general chat (ala wow trade/barrens chat) that you find in LA map chat.

If "hang out" is where you base your characters, for me that's usually Rata Sum because there are few people (I don't mind people but you load faster via city WPs if nobody is around) there and all facilities (crafting/bank/tp) are on the same level and relatively close together, with a WP right at the TP that's instant (no loading screen) from the crafting facilities.

I only go to LA if I want to use the mystic forge, which is as little as possible since I detest the very idea of it (prefer to earn rewards not get them via lotto or grinding out hellish fixed recipes).

I only group with guildies and friends so there's no reason to suffer stormwind...err...LA for LFG action.

I like the Kodan settlement "Song of Final Exile". Wish there was one that had all the stuff like crafting/bank/tp...that would be cool.

A very interesting thread here. I know the feeling of having a favorite place to be.
There is a small warn out tower just north of the runis in WvW where I normally dwell. Since I'm in WvW 95% of my time. However I would love to check out the location you speak of, mind share it's location?

i think divinty's reach has the most people followed by lions arch.

lions arch reminded me of Dalaran from WotLK.  its like this neutral mixture of all the races.

I don't really have a hangout, but I do AFK at Gwen's Garden. Sadly, the Iris flowers aren't there (or just aren't put in, since I'm not sure if we're supposed to be able to get out of the Eye. :P)

Also, the Far Shiverpeaks, with the Eye in the background...

if looking for a group for something, LA.
if crafting or playing with the TP, or whenever I feel a need to go empty some stuff to the bank, I go to Hoelbrak.

Hoelbrak is by far my favorite city, not only in design but to explore as well.  TP is relatively close to the bank npc, both of which are on a level of the city basically all to themselves.  And since I love snow, its always snowy, which is a plus.  All the crafting tables are close to each other making craft leveling easy to do in shorter amounts of time, tons of merchants and such everywhere, and if I get really really bored, I can go keg brawl for 5 minutes until I realize that I hate keg brawl and go do something else.  Basically I use Hoelbrak like I would a guild hall had it been in the game in that it's my base of operations where I park my characters at the end of the day, and I keep all my characters near the bank npc in hoelbrak when I decide to switch.

I'm usually hanging out on the little wooden part between the bank and the mystic forge in LA, its right behind the waypoint, I get to see everyone run by.

If I'm out in the world and I stop to just chat with friends in whisper or guild, I usually find the tallest place i can stand on.  I like watching the world go by.
