I'm not much into lore, and I don't know all the details of stuff, so this will probably get fully answered in the first reply... but anyway, I was thinking if the Dragons went to sleep because they ran out of food, that means the dragons must have been low on power. Because lack of food makes one significantly weaker. First, why did the dragons awaken after sleeping for so long? Is it because they got too hungry? If yes, does that mean they were at their lowest point of power when they awoke? If no, it still must mean they are severely weakened, right? That they would be much stronger if they could stuff themselves again.
Maybe it is how the norn could knock a tooth out of Jormag's mouth? How else would a puny norn (well, puny compared to an Elder Dragon) knock out a tooth of a dragon the size of the mountain and supposedly with powers to match mother nature and rival even the human Gods.
Which may mean that future dragons we fight might be stronger than Zhaitan, as they've had more time to feed themselves?

Well... That would justify a raise in level cap! (I kid, I honestly hope they leave the level cap where it is, if they don't they literally destroy gear progression where it is at).

In all honesty I suppose it makes sense, after having just woken up they would be hungry and maybe still a little bit tired/lethargic. I could definitely see how over time as they began to eat more and get stronger etc they would become much more powerful.

I would expect that's mostly the case. Though keep in mind that Zhaitan's been feeding for 100 years give or take - and Jormag for 150, and Primordus for 200. Though also keep in mind that Zhaitan was re-starved.

So an Elder Dragon's low point would likely be Zhaitan when we fought him (even ignoring the specially made anti-undead Elder Dragon weaponry attached to the Glory of Tyria airship).

We're also told by a tengu that the Elder Dragons haven't truly begun to make their move. Presuming the tengu even have knowledge of the Elder Dragons, it would mean worse things are in store for us in the future.

Not sure where I have this from, so bear with me, but I think I read somewhere that they were put to sleep with some sort of spell in the old days.

That's completely new to me. Because all we're told is that they ran out of food. Glint was freed by the forgotten's ritual and she hid the surviving races, and with the seers creating the bloodstone to contain all non-corrupted magic, the Elder Dragons ran out of food.

I think it was mentioned somewhere pre-release that the Order of Whispers believed something put the dragons to sleep, and their goal at the start of the game was to figure out how that could be done again rather than trying to kill them (the Order of Whispers not believing they could be killed and having a habit of sealing evil away in cans). We don't actually see much evidence of this in-game, though.

Arguably, you could say that there were spells and rituals that lead to the dragons going to sleep - however, what actually caused the dragons to hibernate was the lack of food. The effect of the spells and rituals was to remove their food from the dragons' reach, thus indirectly causing them to go into hibernation, but there's no indication of anything being cast directly on the dragons to put them into slumber.

so if a "newly awakened" state of elder dragon is their low point(havent had time to feed or in Zhaitan's case, restarved) - where does that put Kralkatorrik?

not only has he recently awakened, but he was severely hurt upon his awakening.

I'd say that's why he's been inactive to the nth degree in the past five years. The only activity the branded had is that they've been heading to where Kralkatorrik was last seen (or are defending their forcefully gained territory). On the other hand, all the others are active in some manner (except maybe the DSD but we can't really say for that). I mean, Kralkatorrik had to head somewhere after the battle, but we've heard nil about it.
