I plan to make a thief and hope to find a friend to help me learn the ropes in this game.

I began playing SWTOR, have a few toons, and my main is an Operative, a rather thief-like class. I love it...but, the game has easily exploited griefing mechanics that I have come to despise. They have done nothing to eliminate these exploits, and recently SWTOR had server merges. The increased server populations now have brought MANY more people together, and frankly the griefing has ruined the game for me.

I had a slow start, really slow, in SWTOR as I had no friends to help ( I suspect the easy griefing attracts a generally unfriendly crowd....some great ppl there and now I have some awesome friends, but the proportion of jerks is too high anymore). I'd like to have a better experience in GW2.


I am on the east coast of the USA (EST), and can play usually from 8 pm till 11 pm during the week, and not infrequently can get some time from 5 pm onward. Weekends I have lots of time

Really hope to have a better experience here. I am pve player, no interest in pvp.

First off, welcome to GW2 Guru!

Second, actually not sure where this kind of post would go, probably in Introductions forum, but I'm sure a moderator can move it.

Actually I did not begin yet, so I can choose any server I suppose; thought this would make it easier to find a friend in game from the start. I'll get started as soon as I can, this would be really great!

Welcome to Guild Wars 2, hopefully you'll enjoy it more than the end of your time at SWTOR. There's a HUUUGE amount of PvE to explore, and a PvE/PvP mix up in WvWvW if you felt like venturing into that too. Also a Thief born and bred, so if you have any questions about it fire away and I'll try my best to answer.

I play on EU servers (changes every week) so probably won't see you in game, but feel free to add me to your friends list, as far as I'm aware there are no server restrictions on that
