From my past experiences, most games fail due to a lack of response from the developers. I think as long as the developers stay in touch with players, its difficult for a game to just drop dead so quickly.

MMO players are only half the equation.  As long as game publishers persist in talking like sleezy used car salesmen at every opportunity, players will react to that BS with a vengence.

Everyone demands too much these days... its quite sad...

How so? Even Ultima Online had a better system with better loot and gear styles. Its sad.

A good mmorpg is 'never' truly finished.

Just look at WoW, it's still getting patches and updates. GW2 has been out, not even a year now and people are bashing it for even some of the littlest flaws.

Sooooooo, you are saying that companies should not market their products? Where does personal responsibility come in? Where does that little muscle between your skull come into play? The point being players should expect developers to try and bend the truth as much as posible. If you have issues with trust, don't follow a game wait for it to be release then see the reviews. Nobody is forcing the individual to fall for the marketing ploys that companies have used since the dawn of marketing. Being completely honest doesn't sell products in the real world sometimes, that's why companies spend billions marketing their products, the sooner you learn that the better.
