Thinking about buying this game, really exicted about it, just waiting to get some money for new computer that can run GW 2.
So yeah, to the main topic.. I have been thinking about making Human Thief, so what is class balance in game atm? I'm going to play PvP and thinking about is thief viable, someone said that thief sucks at PvP, so what are best pvp classes? And hows PvP overall working in game, never played GW1 so got no idea about it. I heard that there are some big pvp battles but no arena like world of warcraft has (2v2, 3v3). Also are there any other differences about races that main city and how it looks, does every class have different "racial" skills?

- There are 5v5 hot-join maps, 8v8 hot-join maps, 5v5 tournaments, and then WvW which puts hundreds of players versus each other.
- Racial skills are disabled for PvP, so race has no influence what so ever on PvP.
Every race can travel to other capitals from lvl2, so even for PvE it doesn't restrict you.
- There are lots of different opinions on balance really.
In my opinion there is work to be done, but it's already better than any balance in any MMO before (that includes GW1). - Thiefs are actually pretty strong tbh, alot of people complaining about how OP they are.

Structured PvP is cross server/world, so it makes no difference. However for WvW you'll want to choose the right world if you're intending to play that content. Have a look at the ratings and population when choosing worlds, be aware that the higher tier servers will have queues and be more hardcore, so imo not the best choice.

I'm gonna add that, as I understand it, servers are matched to other servers for WvW based in part on their standings. Higher ranking servers in WvW face other servers that are highly-ranked, so being on a "good server" means you will be working a lot harder. Depends on what you want and what your philosophy on that is.
I personally think the middle-of-the-road servers would be a good choice. They are clearly somewhat active in WvW, have tons of room to increase their standing and aren't constantly being matched against the hardest opponents.

Yep, I'd agree with this.
