It'd be hard to pull off, but something I'd like to see is all monsters being spawned by mini-events rather than simply respawning on top of you - have locations where the monsters can logically appear from, and when they spawn they make their way from their spawn location to their leash/patrol location.
I'd also like to see a lot more player-initiated events. For instance, a lot of the stuff in Orr is reliant on the NPCs deciding to do something, and there have been a few times when I've seen events fail due to the arbitrary NPC morale bar just as a sufficient quantity and quality of players had arrived that the Risen were obviously losing by any other yardstick. It should be possible to trigger events where the PCs get the opportunity to seize and hold a location without NPC involvement, and if they succeed the Pact will take advantage of it and send an NPC garrison.
What do you guys think about DE's, instead of traditional quest.

DE's are definitely lacking in story text, but the fact that it's an event happening right next to you that you can choose whether to jump in at anytime or completely ignore it is what makes it totally unique and original. ANet said that they didn't want to do the old boring traditional quest system found in other MMO's, and DE's are a perfect solution to that.
Granted, the old system had walls of text that did have some of the story, but most people skip it, making it a waste to put it there. Like many of the previous posters said, the story is found through NPC's, but it's kept aside for the players that are interested. Anyone else can just play the game however they want to.

Although, the people who care about the lore and those who are concerned about the "lack of lore" in DE's/hearts are probably the ones who would read the quest text... maybe.

I never buy or play MMOs for story. *shrug* If I want a good story, I read a good book.
