Hi guys,

I recently bought exotic jewels to upgrade my accessories but ran into a problem. When I tried to upgrade a exotic ring with an exquisite jewel it simply didn't work. Same problem with my backpack from the mad king quests.

What is going wrong here? I was able to upgrade the other three accessories, why not them too?

I took screenshots, first when I tried to upgrade the last two accessories and the second one is so you can see the exotic ring in question.

Thanks in advance!

Exotic isn't level 80
Pretty sure exquisite jewel's only go on level 80 gear.

Okay, thank you. So could I transmute the ring exotic ring on a white lv 80, possibly with the exquisite jewel on it? How about the back pack?

if you have the first version of the mad king's back(the non burning book) or the back piece from the story you could, but the complete edition of the mad king's back piece is item level 1 or so meaning you can only use no lvl req gems on it.

The rarity of the ring depends on what stats you decide to keep. So your choice is to buy a lvl 80 exotic, or keep the rare that you have now. (though the exotic with the embelished is just slightly better than the rare with the exquisite)

As for the Backpiece, the Mad king is a lvl 0 back piece, so you should buy a lvl 80 rare backpiece from the TP (Search "Spineguard"), and transmute the Mad King skin to the rare backpiece.

I'm sorry, but how does the rarity influence the level? I don't mind if it says fine or exotic as long as the level rises from 79 to 80. Shouldn't it work to transmute my "Carrion Ring of Carrion" onto a white lv 80 ring with the exquisite jewel on it, so that in the end it has the exotic stats and the jewel on it?

Thank you for the advice about the back piece.

The problem is, the lvl of an item comes with the stats, so if you transmute an exotic lower level item to a lv80 white (with jewel) and want to make it a lv80 item with exquisite jewel, the result will be an item with the exotic skin + white lv80 stats + jewel. You sure you want that? ^^"

You just can't put higher level upgrades onto lower level items - so the only option is to either buy a L80 ring or use lower level upgrades on it.  One of the downsides of going the cheap route... Transmutation stones won't allow you to bypass that as the levels of the upgrade and item won't change.

Damn. I was just so happy when that ring dropped on my first fractals run - I didn't even look at the level requirement. Thanks all for answering my questions.
