I think you fall in love with the Elder Scrolls you play first, honestly. For me, that was Morrowind. Going back to Daggerfall. . . I just couldn't.

"It's been a while since i've posted here but its okay I have some AMAZING NEWS. :celebrate: :celebrate:
For the past 2 weeks i've been in Las Vegas promoting my very first cook book. I know its a strange venue for something so passive because its about baking too. Its a long and boring story about someone who subscribes to my blog owning a advertising firm yadayadayada. Anyways, I just got home about 30 minutes ago, and ran to the computer to tell you what happened to me last nightish.
I was at a casino (Treasure Island), at a blackjack table (my husband went to get drinks) when an oriental man sat down next to me. I was patiently waiting for my husband when the man struck up a conversation with me. I told him who I was and the like and my husband came back and he sorta backed off. He proceeded to play blackjack until some more of his friends had arrived. They were not watching him but instead just cheering him on. He won 400$ while I was sitting there myself. Then, the amazing part...one of them said " Hurry up man were going to miss half of our own fallout new vegas party."
I nearly choked on my drink. What the heck is Bethesda doing in Vegas?!?!! :shocking: Shouldn't they be making that game still!? These were the thoughts going through my head.I asked them how they knew about Fallout New Vegas and they told me who they were and that they're publishing the game. (Which I didn't know) They explained to me what publishing means which lead me to ask.
"Well what are you making now?"
The oriental man turned to me and said "You know what? Im in a really good mood. I'm up 350$ im in Vegas and I'm just feeling great. What we're making now is in launch cue. As soon as Fallout New Vegas Hits the shelf we'll let you know all about the elderscrolls... I mean our next project"
After he blurted out the elderscrolls one of the guys with him gave him a dirty look while some of the others were a little shocked and began to laugh. I had a plane to catch so my husband and I made small talk and then it was back on a plane to Kincardine.
Its going to be really hard for people to believe me I undestand. Maybe when the Bethesda boys get back from Vegas (I think one of them said they just arrived) they can vouche for me. At the same time though them vouching for me is like me asking them to tell me and all of us that the elderscrolls is their next project.
Also i'm kind of second guessing if he deliberately said that now because some of them said they're having a party for Kim Kardashian tonight. Why would Bethesda be having a party for Kim Kardashian. They could've been really drunk. Im not sure
Anyways i hope this has brightened your days as it made my plane ride so much more enjoyable. I'm scared of planes too.
-manda :)"
If this is true, a late October/early November announcement of TES V: Skyrim is likely.

I'm not saying it is or isn't happening, but just because someone who was drunk in vegas said something doesn't mean it's true.
Edit: the kardashians are also overrated. I hope none of them are voicing a game I'd want to buy.

Hammerfell and Elsweyr have deserts.

Well considering that Skyrim was probably in pre-production for about 2 years (while Fallout 3 was in full-production) and 2 years of full-production (after Fallout 3 was released), I'm pretty sure the writers and artists have come up with something good.

So far every game since 3rd had daedric lord involved in this or the other way in plot (in Morrowind Azura played major role, Bloodmoon was about Hircin, and you know what's Oblivion's plot as well as Shivering Isle's) so I hope it will be some sort of political crysis or some sort of conspiracy without daedric lord involvment. Or anything else that's creative.

Or they could just have a totally different story.
I do hope they have updated their engine. It's really starting to show its age and even tho graphics are everything its nice when large open world games look really nice too.

Right before the novel was released, the summary of the book on Amazon (I think) said that it will bridge the gap between Elder Scrolls 4 and Elder Scrolls 5, which would take place 200 years after the events of Oblivion. Then suddenly someone had it removed.

edit: It's actually 200 years, my bad Kysio.
"The events of TES V may take place 200 years after the events of Oblivion. A 1up.com post states that the first Elder Scrolls novel "partly bridges the gap for the next game, which is set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis." The retail site from which this information came quickly removed the reference to the next Elder Scrolls game from its listing; it is unknown whether this is due to a factual error or if the retail site accidentally leaked information that was meant to be released at a later date."
Trademark update! From the Official Speculation Thread!
Syltstrider says: "Okay gang, I can't believe I missed this, but I totally did.
Take it for what it is worth, and there are still some pieces left up in the air.
For those who are unaware, Bethesda had applied for a Skyrim trademark for the game itself (there were several Skyrim trademark applications for various facets like merchandise and booklets etc.) and it had gone through all the standard processes but the process itself has an end date if the mark is never actually used, i.e. a product is produced. The old marks expired (died) and they applied for new trademarks for Skyrim.
The new Skyrim trademark application for the game itself, as of 9/28, was assigned the status of "A non-final action has been mailed". Reading the simple description, I simply dismissed this as a part of the process. EXCEPT: The dead mark for Skyrim never had this status assigned to it... so why would this new mark get this status if it was following the standard process of any old trademark?
So I dug a little deeper:
http://www.laborlawt...hp/t-49117.html
What this means is that BETHESDA PROVIDED SOMETHING TO THE USPTO indicating they were going to fulfill the SOU! The office is asking for more information to determine whether they can register the mark... This indicates to me that we are incredibly close to an actual completed Statement of Use (i.e. an announcement) and the final piece needed to register the mark!"
Bethesda Game Studios is hiring...

Good to see because they were sorely lacking in the art department with Oblivion.

It's a shame cuz now I'm almost more hyped up about the next TES than GW2, even though TES hasn't really been officially talked about much at all.
Also, on a side note, does anybody know what I have to do to take part in the Nehrim campaign? Reading the FAQ on Nehrim have me the impression it was a completely separate game with different levelling systems and all.

Is that Morrowind? If it's Morrowind I can't help you, haha.

You need to have Oblivion installed, and download the Nehrim installer. Put Nehrim's installer into a separate folder from Oblivion's and run it. Wherever you put it, that's where Nehrim will be installed. It'll find where Oblivion has been installed on its own and grab the files it needs from there.
The leveling system is your standard RPG fare, where you get experience points for killing monsters and finishing quests, and once you have enough exp, you level up, getting more attribute points, hp, and magic.

As with many others, I loved Morrowind, but really didn't enjoy Oblivion. I'm not going to list why; there were many 'steps backward' compared to Morrowind IMO. Even so, it really did some amazing things for its time.
I'm curious as to what TES5 will look like. The engine has been a hallmark of the series, pushing technology very hard. But the last I've seen of the engine (Fallout 3++) it looks abysmal. It's a buggy, poor-scaling, uncanny-valley mess compared to other engines out there. So hopefully there has been a lot more going on behind the scenes than what Fallout 3 would indicate. I guess, knowing Bethesda, they won't show TES5 unless it will blow your mind :)
