not just the champions... I had an issue today in the straits zone. Trying to get the zone complete and there's one (commune with this whatever thing) near elites and regular mobs with a nice 30 sec it seems respawn time. also, to make it worse, there are random mesmer-like choas fields around that interrupt you constantly.

what the hell? how can i do this solo. the zone is empty

This is aggravating...... I suggest finding a thief and having him use shadow refuge on you. It gives you enough time to commune. (clearly not ideal, but all these points were insanely easy on my thief)

The big problem of GW2 is the server shard system.
All non-80 zones are pretty much dead due to this system, while with the district system you could always find someone.
Infact TES online is going to use something like that.

Not changing this system leads to an empty world.
Changing this system requires a big change of the game.
Anet doesn't seem willing to accept that and do this change so we'll have to stick with dead zones.

yea well mesmers have a shatter that gives 4 sec of invulnerability. like it ever works or lasts that long. this is after blink, run, veil, decoy to stealth = still fail. all those stupid knockdowns and roots. oh and why is the aggro radius so damn big?

Me to, as a warrior, great for resing and saving my butt. The healing tree is fun too but less useful except in a few situations.

Back on topic...
"So how long before DE's & Champs are removed ?"
WHAT?
Never-ever would be my answer and I wonder how anyone could even ask this question?!

Trust me, is the only rpg where killing Champions and Veterans doesn't worth it, last 4 champions I slayed :
- waste 5-15min to kill it
- get **** loot (trophy junk or nothing)
- kill a random mob near him get blue/green item
This is After the devs said theyve repair it.

I've been running dungeons for the past week or so, have farmed around 1000 tokens, YET no single, NO single gold drop, or exotic, only blues.
What?
Not to mention - what's the point of wasting 15 minutes on slaying Tequati or Jormag? I always get only blues and green gems

TDLR rewards are discouraging and bad..

You mean "yellow" drop? aka Rares.

Have to agree with you anyways, I am currently working on lv 70+ maps completion for some promising exotics reward :)

Am I alone in enjoying the fight and not the rewards?
I take them down solo or get help via chat if I can't.
I don't do it for loot, I do it for fun.
But I am 80 and well geared, I did not bother when leveling, takes to long.
I find them a fun challenge now.

Perhaps this is where the op is confused about them,
just because the boss is in that zone, may or may not relate to you killing them at said level.

Either way, they pose no barrier nor hinder you from advancing.

Fight if you wish or skip if you wish. Up to you.
What's the problem with that?
I am glad they are there.

What are the tokens? And what gear do they give? Ya get choice of stats too.
That is your reward. The drops are for coin. If everyone got exotic in all dungeons after only a week...what would be the point?
You think those exotics would have value?

gold is a sub-species of the color yellow, don't be a twit. You knew what he meant via context. They were called golds in GW1, even when we had gold and platinum pieces. And there was no confusion.

The problem isn't so much for me having already experienced the content at release but new players.  I see them coming into this game and getting frustrated both pve and pvp.  Try being a new player and theres just empty zones lol.  Most will quit.

I do agree that rewards for harder events need to be worked on and I am pretty tired of LA being a constant overflow because of fractals. I enjoy twiddling my time away in Divinity's Reach now in all honesty :P

I hardly get overflows on weekdays. Weekends yes but I took a 3 week break as MANY suggested and now I am behind Fractal levels, and from what I have heard we've been fighting the same 2 servers for the past 3 weeks. Not to mention the general dead zone which all zones have become. I ran Plinx with 3 people lol. At prime time Saturday.

I love to fight the Champion giant, the first time I did the DE and the giant was inside the nageling town (forgot how to spell). That was the best experience among all the DEs so far. I think they block the giant outside the town now, less fun doing that but still he is an epic boss to defeat.

TBH, I still blame Anet for putting FOTM in LA because almost everyone is camping in LA for FOTM and no one bothers to go out of LA.

For those DEs that are impossible to solo, I think Anet should give us an option to look for NPC reinforcement. There are some DEs with that option, you see the DE happening and you have 2 choices: to solo it yourself or to travel to another nearby outpost to talk to the NPC to request their assistance.
Fractals is an awesome dungeon. The location does not matter. People will still flock to whereever it is. Just like Plinx with 50 people camping his spot.

Yeah its fun to go AFK and make dinner while you have auto - attack on and return 20 min later to find the giant still stomping and at half health.  Fun stuff.  The giant took too long to kill even when there was players in the area.  It obviously needs to be tuned and should've been from the start as do all champion npc's.  Primarily where the f--k is my reward.

View PostLavaSquid, on 07 December 2012 - 02:08 AM, said:

It seems that your problem is the reward != the effort and time to spend on the champion which I agree.

The champions are fine. Just that Anet should make sure champions at least drop a 'Rare' stuff.

I think the problem is incentive. You don't get customers returning if you give them crappy shit.

View PostAKGeo, on 07 December 2012 - 04:32 AM, said:

More tinfoil hat theory. I'm getting more rares from trash mobs than bosses or chests combined. I even got a nice level 78 aureate rifle from a luminescent grub in the troll cave in Queensdale. Gave me 2 ectos and a major sigil of strength.

People are blaming their bad luck on "stealth nerfs" without realizing that statistics sometimes work against them.
Nope, they did reduce the drop rate. Add to the fact that most DEs are broken AND low population shit's getting ridiculous.

Yeah and most probably you're the only one chasing these for "fun" lol.

Do you have conclusive proof that they reduced the drop rate? Seriously? Do you have a quote from a dev saying "yeah we scaled back drops because they were obviously too high to begin with and we don't want our players getting rich without buying gems."?

Its time for the overflowserver to become the standard not only when there are too many players in an area but if there aren´t enough there too.
How cool would a stable Area-Population be.
