But when they send a gift - repeatedly - of crap I can't use, it somewhat mitigates the 'personalized' feel that's supposed to give us.
Really, how hard would it be to code the exploration rewards to be something that toon could actually use? My toon might be a delicate female wearing flowing robes and dresses. Did I look like I really needed a giant, gothic set of spiked steel armor?

The last area I did, I received two coats. One light, one heavy. I was on my ranger... Yes, it would indeed be nice if I got something I might actually be able to use. Then let me make up my mind if I really want to use it or salvage/sell it. But this way, they're making my choice for me.

I haven't played enough on my Warrior yet to see if it goes the other way around though.

Riiiiight. Because people are getting exotics with Divinity Runes so often that people should just shut up right? Oh wait, they're not, that's why they're so damn expensive which is why you brought them up in the first place! I mean your point completely contradicts itself.
I don't think this is a huge issue but it's still pretty dumb that you don't even get appropriate items for your character. But then again, you can also get items for other alts. See, that's me seeing all sides of an issue and not completely dismissing others' views and being a complete tool!

See the portion in bold for a complete dismissal of an opposing view.
On topic:
I haven't actually done map completion since launch, as I don't really roll alts, so it's hard for me to remember how much of what I got was useful; but I do seem to recall TPing a bunch of my exploration rewards after receiving them.

Ironic and hypocritical on your part since you completely ignored the fact that I pointed out the upside of getting items for alts when receiving RNG items. How is that complete dismissal when I made a point for the "opposing side"?
Also, you clearly didn't understand that the other guy making the argument that a rare chance of getting lucky with RNG is flawed because that rare chance is well... rare. Which is why that item he mentioned is so expensive (well that and the demand for it). But it's not a common find and it applies to not getting the appropriate item for your character. How hard is it to understand people's frustration on RNG? Now how about that lecture on complete dismissal?
Geezus.

I got "Rampager's Staff" x2 for completion of malchor's leap on my guard. Lvl 76.

Yep.

And that may quite be the case or they wanted the player to get items for another toon/alt. I noticed on light armored toons I got mostly heavy and sometimes a few medium armored toon items. On Heavy just the opposite.

But when my light-armor toon hit 80, I had to gear up via the TP for at least 5 pieces, when my bank is SWOLLEN with heavy/medium (90% heavy - 22 out of 24 pieces) rare/exotic. My medium-armor thief, on the other hand, just completed two zones, got 3 light and 1 heavy rare (prompting my post).
I understand the RNG. "Improbable" doesn't mean conclusively there's a bias algorithm at work. But "improbable" is, nevertheless, improbable.
Rewards you (allegedly) get from the 'Tyrian Explorers' should be at least POSSIBLY relevant to your character, and not just stupid random crap they found in the storage closet. Sure, it's nice to get Christmas presents, but it's not ingratitude to roll one's eyes when the present your Aunt picked out for you (AGAIN and AGAIN) is something you not only don't want but CANNOT USE.
Yes, I'll say it: ANet's RNG is like a dude getting Tampax for Christmas.

Why load up your bank? With so many people getting gear they cannot use/do not want to use, one would think that it would be a simple matter to go to the TP and trade your gear for someone else's.
This begs a secondary question as well: let's say the game started rewarding armor classes appropriate to everyone's profession. Would you then want them to provide stats that match your trait setup as well? If you need light Cleric's armor and got light Carrion armor, it is just as worthless to you and you're not much better off than if you had gotten medium or heavy armor.

I suspect you don't have to be a dude for that to be a horrible Christmas gift.
