Kiya, they are looking so gorgeous, the pic in the cave was a good idea, I guess your kids have your arty genes.

Sarys,  I listened to it while reading through the thread, very nice.

Awww, Pexx, hope you are feeling better soon.

Now all the hard work of Christmas is mostly over (for me anyhow) I will have more time here and I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s progress  :)

Got my scanner from under the pile of rubble that is my closet. Fever has gone down so I can actually do some stuff. I'll scan them in later on and post some progress, hopefully.

Also, the quaggans are super cute. Makes me want to start working with clay again.

Artist: Thork from "Fist of the Empire" WvW guild on Sea of Sorrows Server

Concept / Idea: WvW-based video which pokes fun at some of the drama contained with in the highest tier of WvW competition in GW2, which doubles as a Christmas message from our guild to the WvW community we hold so dear.

Art form: Video

Progress Link:

While we at FoE (Fist of the Empire) are a hardcore PvP guild bent on crushing our enemies, we are also focused on participating in a positive way within the PvP community of all the games we play. We love to make videos which not only demonstrate our WvW prowess, but also entertain. We usually don't enter contests like this, but our latest video was so well received by the WvW community we all figured "what the heck"... You may not understand all of the content unless you read the Guru Stonemist forums, but you should get the general idea ;-) Hope you enjoy it!

Hailfall, that is too cute. I totally forgot about that quaggan in LA.

Also, finally got around to scanning and uploading a progress picture of my submission for the drawing portion.

I may not be able to finish it in time, however. I am feeling really bad lately and finding myself sleeping more than usual lately.

Sister gave me a full charcoal set for Christmas. Started on the actual entry. Already messed up with a few angles and blending, but such is the nature of charcoal. You just have to go with it.

Not feeling very good this past week. :-(  Son got sick on Christmas and I spent the next couple days fighting off that.  At least the next 8 quaggans are almost done!  That puts me just under halfway done the figures, still havent started the board.  If I could manage to sit at my desk and stay crafting I would be able to knock these out but all I want to do is crawl back into bed and sleep until next year.

Hailfail that is gorgeous :)

Pexx, I really like the concept and hope you finish it – or just polish it a bit  ^^  Sorry to hear you are still not feeling well, take care of yourself.

Feathermoore that’s looking good.

Kiya, I am really looking forward to seeing the finished entry but looking after yourself is more important – hope you feel better soon.  The screenie is unusual – where do the hearts come from?

Morag! Not you too! Take care of yourself

Sarys, nice entry :)
Happy New Year everyone

Someone cast a Jar of Harpy Pheremones over a crowd in LA and everyone had hearts floating for a few minutes.  After looking where to get it I spent way too much time camping where the quest was supposed to spawn  so I could get my own and re-do a shot like http://www.kirins.ne...s/screenie2.jpg but with hearts.  Then my husband came home and said :"Oh, he is supposed to spawn right where that present is.  It is probably broken because of that."   Foo.

50/50 in my opinion on where this is going. We shall see after I get the cordage to look like cordage and get the shades down to black.

I clearly don't play enough, I have no idea what that is! Anyway good job :)

I think it is going well Feathermoore, I am slightly confused by the shadow under the candle but I am no artist.

Candles will cast a shadow directly down if they are "fat" enough as the light from the flame is blocked by the edge of the candle. The shadow is larger than it is supposed to be. Longer that it should be towards the box actually. Originally the flagstones were going to be much darker than the current shade and the candle was actually flipped around (tall part in the back as opposed to the front). Figured I would get the tones for everything that actually "mattered" down first before really doing the floor or wall.

I also didn't want to go too dark before I added the Iris flowers/flute and make it so I had to use too much white charcoal which never really looks right to me.

That shadow will be shortened though. The candle/box's shadows are drawn with vine charcoal so it is really easy to erase out.

tl;dr: Shadow is wrong as I have a tendency to overemphasize them. On the very short list of things that bother me that are fixable :P

Chess board is almost done!   Wow I am cutting this close.... it will take 2 days for the Envirotex Lite to cure.  It is an old box so I am crossing my fingers that it actually sets properly.

It's never too late!  (until the closing date ofc)

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with :)

Out if interest, what would have helped you to notice it earlier?

Today's image is a bit blurry, apologies.

Going to be cutting this close but I would say I am 2/3rds done. wall/candles, shadows, and then pulling out the highlights should be all that is left. Unless I have time I will have to cut the flowers for now sadly as they will take a long time.

I'll try to enter it! Thanks!
I think I didn't notice this contest at all until I was pointed out to by a friend on guildwars2 roleplayers site. I think it would help me to notice earlier if it was advertised on art community sites, such as Deviantart and GW2 art communities. I don't frequent GW2guru a lot, maybe I should start doing it more. 8)

I'll sign up then and try my best to finish it by 6th Jan!

I wish we could extend the deadline of the contest even just by a few days... Been so busy over the holidays and having been so sick didn't help either :( Is this possible, Tzu?

I'll still try to finish it by the 6th, but I don't know if it's possible :(

I haven't even done anything on my entry so I wouldn't mind an extension.

(Although even an extension might not mean I'll be able to do anything lol)

Amazing entries, I really like seeing ones like the quaggen sculptures and cover music.

I am pretty sure there is no way I will get it done on time (when exactly on the 6th is the cutoff time?)  but I am hoping to be over the 80% mark.

Pawns are almost ready.  They still need to be glazed and get felt under them. Quaggans behind snowforts will be the rooks.  The board turned out wonderfully, adding the felt underneath it once the glue gun heats up.
