hey guys im looking to build a computer from scratch to play guildwars 2 fairly smoothly but unfortunatly i am on a tight budget and i have no clue about what parts i need so far ive gone into my local store and asked what i would need for the minimum spec.

case,
http://www.maplin.co...lack-psu-624074

graphics card,
http://www.maplin.co...ics-card-630103

sata cable,
http://www.maplin.co...ata-cable-36042

dvd,
http://www.maplin.co...ta-drive-224082

HDD SATA, 1TB

and i have found this bundle for processor and motherboard  online,
http://www.awd-it.co...ory-bundle.html

this all comes to around £330. i was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge of if these parts are compatable with one another and also if it will play the game very well. also has anyone had any experience with the fx 6100 because my friend (that knows a bit about computers) uses intel chips and cant really tell me how well it will play it.

cheers for any help guys.

The FX-6100 would provide acceptable performance most of the time, and if that's all you can afford, you can get by with it. However, I would recommend you try to find the FX-4300 or -6300 (new generation) instead, as they are faster and likely not much more expensive. But if you're relying on finding a package deal with a motherboard, you may have to take the options you're given. Intel's Core i3-3200's are probably not a lot more expensive, and a bit faster as gaming chips.

That GT 610, on the other hand, is not really appropriate for gaming at all. It would run the game at very low resolution with all details off and probably still struggle. I don't think you'd want to go much slower than a Radeon HD 7750 if you want smooth gaming, and a bit more than that if you want to play at 1080p.

The power supply  that comes with the case is very very very cheap I would never even consider using it. As above the 610 video card is actually lower than HD4000 built in graphics so thats a absolute no.

26 bucks more Intel i3 3220 processor better at gaming, alot better video card 7750, alot better case and power supply comes with a antec 430 earthwatts 80+ certified PSU.
Case and power supply
http://www.scan.co.u...watts-80pluspsu
500GB HDD
http://www.scan.co.u...-cache-85ms-ncq
CD/DVD drive
http://www.scan.co.u...-sata-black-oem
Video card
http://www.scan.co.u...ub-dual-link-dv
4GB of good memory 1600MHz
http://www.scan.co.u...-9-9-24-xmp-15v
Processor
http://www.scan.co.u...rt-cache-retail
Mother board no need to buy SATA cables it comes with them usally all MB's come with 2
http://www.scan.co.u...sata6g-vga-hdmi
If you are going to use a 64bit operating system I would spend a little more and go with 8GB of memory http://www.scan.co.u...-9-9-24-xmp-15v

With reference to the OP:

The power supply that comes with that case is apt to be relatively cheap (and in-efficient), but it should be OK for starters, especially since you'll have a relatively low-power graphics card.

The GT-610 sucks - there's no better way to put it. Get an HD6670, HD7570, HD7750 or GTX-650 instead.

There should be no need to buy SATA cables. The motherboard should come with at least 2.

And, as Typographie suggested, try to find a bundle with an FX-4300 or 6300 instead.

Or you could go for this bundle:
http://www.awd-it.co...ory-bundle.html
The FX-4170 actually outperforms the 6100 in games (because of the much higher clock speed).

thanks for the help guys, do any of you know if the i3 2100 processor with the GTX 650 graphics card will play the game smoothly? i can get a hold of those parts relatively cheap and ive been told they will out perform the FX 6100 by a lot.

Yes, the i3-2100 will outperform the FX-6100, but the FX-4170 is close. The GTX-650 will perform the same whichever CPU you get. (So suggesting that "they will outperform the FX-6100" is inaccurate. :) )
