They just sent me the box through mail in the game.  I didn't get a precursor, but with all these negative threads around, I just want to thank ArenaNet for doing the right thing!

Thanks ArenaNet! :D

Glad to see a shred of happiness on these depressing times. Maybe there's still hope for Anet afterall.

I have to agree with this sentiment. I goofed and didn't open it on my level 80, but I still got a good 7 gold from selling the runes off of my level 62 exotics. :P

Guess QA finally assured them that no pre-cursors would drop!

This is a good thread for a good move by ANET.  I never felt any sympathy for those that were mad that they skipped the event altogether, but the people that played for hours only to get glitched deserved this fix.

I take issue with this.  Some people didn't skip it.  They could not make it.  The Oceanic players specifically have been complaining about these one-time events.

They should think of a different transfer policy to prevent hops across realms for duplicating one-time events (if they continue to have them at all) and at least one realm for Oceanic people and those who play during that time.

I'm not sure there is any way to make one-time events work if not all at the same time.  I'm just saying that it sucks more for those that played it and didnt get a chest than it did for those that skipped it.  It was quite a slog to finish and was only really worth doing/fun because it was a once in a game occurrence and had good rewards.  the latter of the 2 we didn't realize at the time.  I see your point here though, maybe they could do it on each server primary timezone, but then once you stagger something like this you get everyone loggin in at the end of an event if they hear the reward is good.... then people that had the event first and didn't know what rewards would be would be screaming that whatever servers had it last had the edge... its sad but it's what would happen.

what to do....how to make everyone happy...

oh well, I'm just glad they are helping those that actually got screwed by DC's

you take issue with something that has nothing to do with those who couldn't make it?

By stating people who chose to skip the event i'm sure he meant people who chose to skip the event, not those who couldn't make it.

Spot-on. As an Oceanic player, I never intended to skip the event, but the timing wasn't suitable. Yes, I'm not entirely happy with the way it went, but I'm happy enough with the rest of the game to continue playing regularly, and won't waste time having a mega whinge on these forums. I just wish it were possible for me to attend events like this. They have the potential to be epic, and have the potential for epic loot.

That said, I thank Anet for doing what they can after the fact to keep as many of their customers happy as possible.

So this is just for people who crashed during the event? Not for people who weren't able to attend the event at all :(?

Bummer...Wish I could've had the box...

I jumped into LA during the weekend and my PC exploded. Not only that, even when I wasn't anywhere near the event, the game was so laggy it was completely unplayable.
Naturally, I then tried to avoid most of the event and the game during that weekend.

I managed to run the last event on my laptop at 5 fps, was quite interesting but got the loot at the end which made me glad I didn't skip it :)

Good show getting loot to those who missed out due to technical issues though, especially if you realise how much work it takes to analyze the possible situations you want to include and write a script that selecs users based on those very specific parameters, selects which loot to send out, test it through and deploy it.

And thusly, get no reward for not participating. Working as intended.

Obviously, but it would be nice if the game was optimized enough to achieve A.Net's standards. I mean, clearly I didn't buy GW2 to play a Powerpoint presentation.

I had to bail on the event a quarter of the way through due to work, but I got one anyway for partial participation. Hopefully this is a sign that they'll be a bit more fair with rewards in the future, or at least the time frame to earn them.

It's getting better though, at launch we had login server issues, party, mail, guild bugs and the TP was down. During Halloween we had some login server issues and party and guild bugs. Karka even we had just lag, no login server issues nor party/guild bugs and mail and TP were working. They can probably optimize a little both on client and server side for big events, like Claw of Jormag atm you can't fire off any skills most of the time because there are too many people around. Time will tell.

Why does people think that the optimization problem lies with ArenaNet?

Me and those I have talked to about the event have very little issue and more or less no lag most of the time. So clearly the lag and such seems to have more root in the computer/connection than the game itself.

So you had issues and lag, that's terrible. Your computer and connection must suck.

events in gw1 were fine, they would repeat for some hour, to let all the playerbase around the wolrd to attend it, givimg the reward to those who god disconected isnt a good support, is the least they can do, for the managing of the event i would still give them a bad vote

Unless hundreds of people on the official forums and in-game chat are lying, this chest distribution things is not working as one might expect it to.

it seems that some people didnt receveid it because they are not eligible for the reward, someone got it even if didnt attend the event, and someone got a second one

Way so untrue.  I have a gaming laptop, top of the line, and I get no video lag but the sound goes out every time and I have Xfinity.  My friend has a top of the line desktop, he's an IT guy, and he got terrible lag.  I don't know what you are talking about.

If you want to thank them, shouldn't you do so on their official forums? as they stopped visiting forums outside of their own.

Anecdotal evidence is always good aye? (And I know I used the same, but then again I never stated what I said as the truth, only some fruit for thought)

Lag has very little to do with the computer, it has more to do with the connection.
You can have the best computer in the world but still lag because your connection is bad.
