I'd say that's still participation and you'll probably get a mail, but no one can tell for sure I guess

I've opened a million tickets regarding bugs and people exploiting situations which directly effect everyones gameplay and not a single one has been addressed or acknowledged to me.  Therefore in this case the one time their mistake happens to benefit me directly I call that karma.

I did participate in this event. I did try to communicate with bugged npc's and follow the plot line. I did go to Southsun shore. I DID NOT get any reward. Thanks Anet. you rock (not). All that aside - The game has too many flaws for me to enjoy, I log in occasionally now. Perhaps they will fix things, perhaps not. There are more important things to worry and get concerned about.

Remarkable effort indeed.

You can imagine how long it takes for a company to track down each of the players that had issues, and then reward them properly.

If I ran a company I would just be done with it, offer an apology, and maybe some unrelated ingame item as a compensation. There, fixed.

Just received boxes on all of my four accounts. Three of those don't even have a level 80 character. Received 2 Dawn, 1 Dusk and 1 Zap and a bunch of other junk. Good going, ArenaNet!

Right...the only ONE TIME event I can remember from WoW is the Ahn'Quirai opening, where pretty much only ONE person got rewarded per server.

Oh and if you decided to raid on patch day or whenever it was borderline ridiculously laggy (which happened/happens a lot) you were shit out of luck if you didn't get your loot from a boss because you crashed during the encounter (Legendary quest items i.e.).

So don't fool yourself.

On a serious note, it's a good thing for Arenanet to do. Most companies would say: 'oh well, better luck next time!'

I got a box too this morning and I was only there for the first 2 minutes of the final day's event. I left because I didn't have the stomach for another evening  of running around in a mega-zerg doing nothing more useful than spamming attacks for hours on end. Best possible result for me: full reward without wasting my time.

Reminds me of all the 'Great Society' handouts that eventually morphed into social entitlements.  They only requirement to get this reward emailed to you was that your character 1) showed up at the event, and 2) got disconnected at least once.  It does not check to see if you re-connected and got to the chest.  I know because that is what happened to me, and I still got more goodies in the mail.

The net result is simple inflation, plus crafters who used to sell boxes and bags lost customers due to the many 20 slot boxes included in the handouts.

So if you disconnected and gave up, you only got 1 reward.  If you disconnected and logged back in an made it to the chest, you got 2.

Sounds more like incompetence than generosity.

I got disconnected once but did manage to get back in more or less at once and did get the chest.
Did not get a mail with another set however.

Well i can now say for sure the system they are using is either flawed or counting the rewards you get per character based, as i recived 1 chest on the mail , even tho i managed  to attain the chest on the event on 2 characters.

I can only assume the chest is being given for the 3º character i was trying to run to the event but failed to get there in time

I decided to skip the final event because I learned from the previous ones that I don't enjoy beating on invisible crabs with billions of HP alongside hundreds of invisible players, but I got a box. Guess I'll take that as compensation for the 3 hours I wasted on the first 2 events.

Curious, not just you're the first i heard who found a precursor inside the special chest, but much more you should be aware you stole it with a reward you cannot have. You should open a ticket on it, and delete what you stole. Guess you're doing it asap, right?

I took part and dc and i got stuff worth only 4g max for all.

I find it quite silly how the same people that complain about how the economy is screwed and the game sucks still are extremely happy when they get an "undeserved" extremely expensive item and refuses to report the error to ArenaNet.

Acting that way does after all more or less invalidate your complaints and you will not be take serious (if you were in the first place that is)
