Guild Wars 2 is quite high in the list. Higher than you might expect.

I pre-ordered TL2 ages ago and I have it waiting for me on Steam, but I've still yet to get around to it.

Of course, that's where I would have put GW2 too but I wasn't expecting gaming journalists to do the same

Yes, this forum is honestly just full of people who have nothing better to do than nitpick and cry at every detail they don't personally like. Don't worry. Most of the gaming world is very happy with the game, despite its rather small issues

I sure hope so. I find this game too good to end up badly

I'm mildly amused that Diablo III didn't make it and am suprised ME3 didn't make it.
Not really surprised about GW2 being so high up (although I wouldn't expect #1); it's a very shiny game for the first week or so of play.

For what it's worth, I'm surprised Minecraft and Borderlands 2 aren't up there, but their list seems pretty solid.
EDIT: Oh and Torchlight 2 being on instead of Diablo 3 makes me smile.

IMO This is like if EGM magazine rated the top 10 perfume fragrances for ladies.... Just a little too far off of what their target audience is supposed to like to be taken too seriously.
Now, if it wins IGN, Gamespot, or any other well-known video game critic's Game of the Year award, then we'd be talking

...one of the Arena Net developers is obviously sleeping with a columnist, an editor, or maybe even an editors assistant at TIME magazine...
Clearly it's a top 10 game, hell I'd even say top 5, but no way is it numero uno unless someone involved with writing the article at TIME magazine has their love life riding on it!

Look at it this way: The zero punctuation review of Guild wars 2 was halfway positive, therefore it's obviously doing something damn special

Examine that a little though.
He tends to review only single player games; it's easy to get deep into such a game and find its flaws within a few days of play.
He probably played GW2 for what, a week at most? It showed: the flaws of GW2 are long term (which is of concern, given GW2 tries to get players to play over longer periods of time) and don't really manifest (although the warning signs are there early) until you've been playing for a while.
So I wouldn't read anything into that.
This is actually the case for almost all reviews though. So yeah; spectacle is heavily biased in favour.

*shrug* 500 hours into GW2 i'm still having fun, therefore the only review that really matters to me - my own - is positive
