EDIT: Actually story/lore does matter but only in the sense it has to make sense, like if the do DS2 like how DS1 you had to learn the lore for yourself and it wasn't just given to you. Quelaags sister is an example of something you would never understand unless you did something extra and found out more.

I don't think there is a Demon's Souls port for the PC.
That said, the only real argument about the PC port of Dark Souls is the frame rate and low resolution textures, but I hear that there are a few mods out there that solve those problems

Oh? I was under the impression that they had released one for Demon Souls o.O Guess I was wrong.
As for Dark Souls... If that's so I may give it a try... But I don't like the idea of having to install mods just to make the game playable... Still it could be worth it.

Yeah dude! I was thinking on starting the thread, glad you did it ^^
As long as I've heard game will be released on 360,PS3 and PC. The game SEEMS to be a prequel of Dark Souls. If you want more info on this subject you should check EpicNameBros's channel on YouTube. Really cool info about the game there, one of the best channels about all the Souls series on YouTube..
(Trailer Analysis)
(Important info from an interview)
Personal opinions about the trailer:
- Some ppl say the knight on the trailer is actually SOLAIRE (praise the sun!) on his pilgrimage to/from (don't remember) Lordran. Thing is the armor of the knight on the trailer resembles to the one Solaire is using during Dark Souls., but I think this Knight is another Knight but also from Astora. Another knight, another story.
- After watching the trailer some ppl fear that you won't be able to CHOOSE how your character will be, but that your main character is the knight on the trailer. I think they are wrong. They can't be so stupid to do that.
If someone watches (well, hears) the second video please confirm this, my spoken english is not very good but I think I understood that they will be doing the game "more accessible" for all people?

As far as the 'story' impression goes: "You are of the Undead; Forever without hope, forever without light". If this is a prequel, it'd make sense for it to go more into the origin of the Undead Curse, when it first sprung up. It could also mean that place we see near the beginning is a very early Anor Londo. However, the overall theme of 'cold' could suggest that it's after the fire has gone out, and the player is the 'final hope'.

I would totally prefer if it was a direct sequel. Something in the lines of "the last flame is fading, you must do something before it's too late". That would be uber cool
I don't usually like prequels.

They are specualting it could be a prequel because they are also speculating that the Knight in the video could be Solaire or... wait for it... Lord Gwyn. Or even Gwyn's firstborn. I personally ddon't have a *ing clue xD

Lord Gwyn? Didn't we kill him?
I personally got confused over the storyline in Dark Souls. I kind of remember the CGI intro and knew it had something to do with freeing the undead by destroying the flame or something. That could be completely wrong, actually. All I know for sure was that there were lords as well as at least one flame and undead. Everything else was a bit blurry haha.

Yabba dabba doo: Dark Souls plot summary (spoilers of course).
And yeah, it's real easy to not see the big picture, and I have to stress that: It's REAL easy! I beat the game twice with nearly no knowledge of what each ending meant or what the deal with the world was. But once you start connecting the dots, things will start making you go "oh...Oh!...OH!!".
I was starting to get a bit tired of the game until I discovered how rich in little details it was, making the world all the more immersive and authentic.

Dark Souls is technically a prequel, by the way
But yeah, there's like no clear cut info on what the game's about. But I'd still like some more info about the origin of the curse, since it's pretty much the basis for the series.

Sony owns the rights to Demon's Souls, which is why From Software changed the name to Dark Souls. Demon's Souls had 3 different publishers: Sony Japan, Atlus in NA, and Namco Bandai in EU.

same size or larger is great for the world map
the control changes worry me however because all depends on what exactly they change. If they make the controls more fluid between attacking dodging blocking and casting then more power to them
The game being more direct bothers me a little, I loved that in Dark Souls you were left to wander around and fight what ever boss you wanted in what order(except having to kill Sif before Four Kings) I also hope they keep the lore hidden away and have the players discover it themselves
the knight main character I hope is just saying "yeah that could be you fighting all this stuff out to kill you" but does not mean we are forced to start as a knight or lose out on caster class

What I had herd was just about making a more comprehensive tutorial and more explanation overall while keeping the same difficulty. Which sounds alright to me.. And a more focused story could be very intersting if it dosn't make the game more directed.
