So what do you expect? Another Lag event or not?

Depends if they learned and don't host the one-time event schedule again.
For example with Halloween I had no lag what so ever, because there wasn't a a big one-time event then (except for the short video).

I hope ANet learned from their mistakes and don't make another massive scale event in one specific place, or at least, not in Lion's arch.

50/50 so far one good event (Halloween, room for improvement but pretty good) and one terrible event (Lost Shores). Anet still seem to like to design content way beyond what the engine and servers can handle though so I do have my worries about Wintersday.
Hopefully no one time events. I don't mind difficult content, and missing content/rewards because I am not good enough to get them (Mad Kings Clock Tower) but missing content because it is only available once at a horrible time is pretty lousy design for an international game.
I would say no cash shop RNG but that is the feverd dream of a mad man and I have come to realise that cash shop RNG is how the best skins/items will be implemented It's a cash grab and I hate it, much rather buy the item than buy a chance to get the item butAnet have chosen their direction so guess I have to accept it

However, Anet have by now seen the results of two events and are probably dealing with it now. So, while I doubt that they have had time to apply all the lessons learned (since an event like this has to have been in the works for a long time and there's not enough time to change the content's basic structure), I expect it to be at least better dealt with than the earlier events.

These snow particle effects are going to murder my framerate with a rusty, frozen, mistletoe-coated shiv.

They really should number their overflow servers and let us pick like districting.

1. One time event? Anet says, OH SURE, that will be sooooo unique to gw2.
Cons: massive lag since everyone gets on, oceanic players missed out yet again.
2. With lag brings massive DC.
Result: Flooding the fansite forums and official forums about 'anet get your gear right' 'oh god this dc' and 'massive lag spike unplayable'
3. You have seen it in the halloween event. You have seen it in the karka event. I know what to expect for wintersday.
result: massive lag, unresponsive action bars, delaying actionsbars, TP down, TP owned, TP missing, TP eaten by norns, massive complaints on facebook page forums and ingame
4. With lag brings "thats it anet i quit this game byebye cya ltr"
prepare for lag

maybe I'll do some of the side quests and smaller events, but I definitely won't do any 1 time events for wintersday.

Expecially on main one time only events, expect unplayable maps.

If they do it somewhat like this, I don't think that it will be a lagfest. If they stick to one map, we'll see similar lag as before.

I find it quite unlikely that we will have the hight amount of people concentrated in one area at one time as we did before.
Also keep in mind that it is not just Lion's Arch this time but rather all of the capitals and so on.

No idea how they're going to do it. Otherwise I'm sure I'm not really missing something important.
I just hope it's not another "buy BL keys to open wintersday chests" thing.

Actually the only thing MINIMAL requirement means is that you can run the game more or less. And seeing as you know the amount of FPS in several areas I would say it is quite clear that you can run it ^^

In another thread they're complaining that there's too much information released about it. Apparently, it's now considered a bad thing to announce special events.

Rubber wherever you go.
Check back in five and then your moving once again.
With error messages and frustrations aglow.
Eh you get the drift.

They held the Lost Shores event at 4am on a Monday morning for me last time. What a massive fail that was...
