Almost didn't comment on the build when I saw this, but I gave my 2cents and taking my leave from this. I'm sorely disappointed that there are people who think Hot Join has any real concrete feedback for builds.



And I would agree, for the most part of "play the game, the way you want to play" but this thought also is what leads to "this class is OP or this is broken" from the very same players who gauge this from hot join 8v8 bs.

I'm going to make this really simple for you, because this is funny, but not funny enough.

1.  If you couldn't tell by the initial post, and by the fact I didn't go into CRAZY DETAIL about it, that this wasn't a THIS IS THE BEST BUILD EVAR post.

2.  Your elitism is stilll showing.  And it's not even the "I'm really comfortable in my abilities" elitism, but the "Someone is doing something I don't approve of, BEGIN OPERATION DENIGRATION" type.   It's not sexy.

I'll tell you what.  There's no emotion in this at all, just principle.  If I'm that bad, then you should be able to kill me, right?
Dying to 1v1s?  Ok.

Let's set it up then.  If I'm terrible, and this build is ass, then you should crush me no problem, right?  (And no, not right now, I'm about to go back to bed lol).  But serious, any more talking about it without moving the hands on it will be classified as reckless.

The honest truth is that I've lost 1v1s in this build, but I've won more than I lost.
The RAW results I've had playing this build, yeah, I wouldn't even hesitate to engage 1v1... had some fun 4 minute battles with some people. so meh.

If I lose, then the build gets refined.
What happens if I win?

And that's not just for you, that's for anybody.  If I'm really feel I'm that terrible, PM me and let's set it up (here or in-game, PM Big Face Ted).  You'll get nothing from me but GG, win or lose, and I won't inquire as to your build prefight (Not really helpful if I know what to watch for specifically before the fight).

With your utility setup, did you initially have the same trait points in Valor (to make the meditations more potent), or where you using the utilities for their versatility, then decided to put some oomph into it by changing your trait points?

Weapon-wise, I'm digging scepter/torch... if you know how to use scepter (I don't, so bad with it lol).  I'd also imagine you kite people a lot better than I do because you can engage at range.    How mad do people get when they have to chase the shit out of you?

For that reason you are ahead of many players already as you take the time to experiment and learn the profession, not just a build.

I created the Mesmer Might Stacking build when 99% of Mesmer's we're running S/P & Staff exclusively, the bunker meta was a glint in its daddy's eye and Talgrum was still playing his Run and Gun Warrior. I took tons of flak from my peers until the build was perfected. When it came time to release it to the community, there was little room for picking it apart, it had already proved its self. Since then skill & rune changes came about and the meta evolved, meh.

Its a good idea to fully vet the build and include a video with it in action to stem the flow of naysayers like the link below, food for thought.

Although I agree with some of what you're saying, he clearly has barely tested anything, and that's what everybody's pointing out. So no it's not a matter of 'oh people just don't know how good x is' it's 'I made a build on Guardian and I think it's good, because somebody in spvp told me so'. Not to mention I've spent hundreds of hours already testing stuff like this, and I can see by similarities to things I've done or other people have that it's inferior to other builds. Not to mention half the traits make me feel like I'm being trolled, not to mention the runes, jewel and heal skill.



Also yes Mayor I will 1v1 you we can make it best of 7. Even though that's entirely not the point of guardian at all, let's do it.

Build got put up because I saw repeated success with it, AND someone asked me what I was running (and it wasn't just one person). because it was a bitch to kill me or stop me from doing what I needed to do.

But yeah, I'm up for it.  I'm normally on in the mornings about 9 PST give or take like an hour.  Obviously it's not going to be this morning.  Forgive me for being that guy, but I almost want to do this in that new Temple map...  it's got this real old school kung fu vibe to it.

Fun fights, got my learn on.

Misattributed symbol was actually guardian AOE first round.  Saw it, hit dodge and saw I had no endurance.  It was like falling down in slow mo when I saw it was gonna clip me (Noooooooooooo! lol)

No frontin, you made me actively have to judge and gauge distance with all that crit you have good sir.  I normally put the pressure game on people, but when I have to think, "I can't let him chain too many hits together while trying to do my business, or it's gonna hurt really bad.", it's a problem for this build.

Overall, it's kinda how I expected it to go down.  I'll look at the stream more tomorrow, right now it's time for bed.  Thanks for the 1v.

I was using another setup with shouts and 20K HP for a long time, but it got boring. I decided to play more risky, so I chose less HP and as much critical as I could. However, I really lacked that HP, so I used this trait with the healing from meditation skills and it proved to be great. It's like having 2 normal healing skills.

I didn't choose torch, because I always try to keep some balance in offense and defense. Shield or focus saved my ass many times. But, by choosing torch, you would make cool condition damage...
In terms of kitting, it's not the best build. I really miss my shouts for speed boost. But, if you are hunter, not a pray, you can easily hunt down somebody thanks to scepter+ judge's intervention, or greatsword leap and binding blade skill.

In fighting him it seemed like you needed to treat him like a Warrior. Avoid that CC/Burst combo, and take them down in between it. You need some stun breakers for when he uses Command+Flashing Blade+Zealot's Defense, as that's what really got you in a few fights.

Meta's changed a great deal since then, the difference between builds will be much greater now.

I'm confused by your meaning here - you dueled on December 15th, after the most recent patch, and as far as I recall, the Guardian profession hasn't been affected by any changes in the time between.  The meta may have changed since then, but how would this have any impact on the difference between the builds in a duel?  Could you please clarify for me?

As in all the other Guardians are running a very different build from then, and the difference between a current meta build and the one he's using would be much larger than a few weeks ago.

I was just commenting on that one fight, him versus you with those specific builds. It doesn't have to be a conversation about meta builds.
