At level 80, what is the most economical approach to salvaging and vendoring whites, blues, and greens? I just hit 80, and I'd like to get some input before I take the wrong way and waste a lot of gold. Which salvage kits will net the most profitable return on salvaging these types of loot?

I'm not sure if this is right or wrong, but I basically salvage anything under 30c with basic salvage kits to get the crafting materials.  I vendor whites, blues, and greens higher than that and then sell gold and orange on the TP.

I personally salvage whites, vendor blues and greens, salvage rares and sell exotics if they sell for more than 1 ecto costs;

I sell everything to merchants, salvage rares and salvageable materials.

If you are salvaging below rare, never salvage leather items. Medium armor is never worth it to salvage for leather.

White = salvage, except leather as noted above.
blue = merch
green = save up 4 then into the forge for a chance at a rare (I'm a gambler)
rare = salvage for ecto
exotic - If sell price > 2*ecto + sigil or rune price then sell on TP.  If less, salvage w/ BL kit.

White = salvage (including leather), blue and above merch.  My last rare was from last week somewhere, I sold it on the TP for about 16s and exotics I've never had...

White - salvage with the 250 stack kit from lionguard chick in LA.  
Blue - vendor
Green - vendor
Rare - TP if you can get more than the cost of 1 ecto.  Salvage with BL kit
Exotic - sell on TP

Sell the rest to TP if profit >vendor offer.
