There's been a lot of talk about how activity in GW2 is down across the board.  In my own guild, probably half our players from the first month have already gone MIA and have been given the boot.  But what disturbs me most is the lack of people in the world at large.  Heck, in the last month even fractal activity has diminished greatly.

Our guild is based in Maguuma.  One of our guildies headed over to Crystal Bay to get some WvW mapping done, and was stuck there for a week.  He hasn't come back.  It turns out you can actually still get groups together for pretty much whatever you want to do, which is something I haven't seen in Maguuma for quite some time.  Moving an established guild (75-ish active-ish members, all upgrades built, 100K+ influence) to a new server is a daunting task, so I'd like to hear from everyone out there first.

What's your server, and how's its PvE activity?  Have you transferred to/from another server recently, and how do they compare?

Jade Quarry, semidead, everyone on fractals and overflows for it, rare pops of a dungeon ending up half ignored no more able to "spam" LFM, every waypoint (except rare short windows) contested.
Ye, interserver guilds sometimes helps to make you feel something is alive and people is playing something else than fractals. Sometimes happens, ye.

Yes and no.  I read other threads and they kinda died before they got started.  I'm trying to get a feel per-server.  Have others noticed Maguuma's lacking compared to Crystal Desert?  I saw one person mention CD is deserted (ha ha), but our guildy says otherwise.

I find that Blackgate has Overflows in LA on a very regular basis at almost all times of the day (save a few hours in the wee early morning in NA time zones).  I can't speak for other servers except that coming from Eredon Terrace to Blackgate was night and day.  I almost always find something to do on BG, when I want to do it I just make a group and tele to fill it, never fails to fill.  On ET It sometimes took over an hour to get a group.  I really think some servers just have a bigger presence then others perhaps.  Or maybe the mentality of what people are doing on said servers is different.  BG is big on doing dungeons (which happens to be what I spend most of my time doing), ET not so much.

I've been trying to find a good server for my friends for a while. HoD is as dead as it gets.

I don't think the servers are dead or activity is even down. Lion's Arch is bustling everyday. The problem is there isn't enough of an incentive to do world events over dungeons and fractals.

Still, on Darkhaven, Orr is active enough to do all the content. It's actually more fun without a zerg.

I've been on three servers since release and it's been extremely rare to see more than 5 people in any one place besides meta events, it doesn't help that I don't follow the map completion paths. It's not that the entire server is dead, people just run from objective to objective until they can go to Orr or now until they can complete fractals competently.  People seem to only chase obvious rewards, so much for all that talk about not needing a carrot to chase.

I'm also on magumma and honestly, i think it just depends on time of day. Just got off and i was in an overflow for LA right before. As for explorable zones, i think the players are just so spread out now doing who knows what. Obviously the games not nearly as busy as release, but contrary to some belief on here, it is doing fine.

I am also on Maguuma and there is usually always something going on.  If one guild is empty I represent the other.  Maybe you need to find another guild?

Tarnished Coast.

DR is full of RPers, but beyond that, its dead.  Was going through Dredgehaunt Cliffs.  Saw maybe 6 people.  I know LA is dead.  Takes less than three minutes to get off overflow.  That place is largely populated by RPers.  LA overflow is being used as a FOTM hub.

I feel this post nailed it.

I still can get a group for any random fractal level but everyone has abandoned all the open zones because they don't give you stuff for ascended gear.

Lion's arch is always on overflow on Piken Square (guess its the fractals?), and whilst most zones are not too full you can always run into people to do stuff with in every zone and they tend to be rather helpful. Orr in general seems to be rather packed, the other day we did the Priest of Balthazar chain with so many people it felt like opening week zergs all over again

So amongst all this negetivity, if someone wants to join the game fresh, what the hell can he/she do? I haven't played the game much since I bought it a few weeks ago and I'm practically having a fresh start. What server should I go for to have some quality PvE time?

Of course LA is full...

If the entrance to Fractal's was in Divinity's Reach, it would always be in overflow...
If the entrance to Fractal's was in Hoelbrek, it would always be in overflow...
If the entrance to Fractal's was in ... you get the point

Human starting area is your best bet.  Beyond that, youll prolly be unable to explore a lot of zones and get help for DEs.  Since they are winnowing the PvE options, people will congregate to maps that get decent numbers.  I suspect it'll be human area, the Gendarren, the Harathi, Bloodtide and so on...  Other areas will be ignored.

Kind of like how everyone left for the Fatman server in SWTOR.
