OK so most of the time the map is awesome, but can someone please explain to me who is posting the locations?  Can anyone do it?  Seemed like it was more communal and real time editable from what I read somewhere but the locations are either completely wrong or significantly inaccurate.

Not so many people still waste time to farm Orr, when a quick tour around the new map with rich ori and ancient wood will give you a similar result in a few minutes. Much more now everyone abandoned orr , after the plinx patch and how karma flows from various sources.
Tl tr, i'm surprised there is even still someone who update the map
Who update the map? Players in the mood to do it. Accept it as is, even fake or inaccurate.

Thanks for taking the time to write a post that does not help at all or answer my questions.  Depending on the locations, mining ore is quick easy gold and breaks the monotony of dungeons or whatever.   If its a waste of time in your opinion thats fine.  Thanks again for your opinion.  Why you are mentioning karma makes no sense.  I only go to the cursed shore when Im tired of dungeons and want some quick easy gold mining, but when I did go to the cursed shore I stuck to pent/shet/jofast, which seems unchanged since "plink" nerf and I have not seen any patch notes indicating otherwise.  

However, my main question was how to one go about editing the map which I though was a ongoing communal thing.

not sure how legit the JQ ones, but one of my guildmates updates the SoS map on there and is religious about it (he loves playing the market and crafting).

I answered, it's done by players in the mood to do it, accepting the fact they are fakes or inaccurate. They are not paid for give you a service

Where on that link you saw a community editable part? It's just a pic from imgur uploaded

Wanna contribute? Upload your map, accurate, then give to the community a link.

Yes, it'sa communal thing, and i explained what the community interests are today.
Over than that their updates was usually pretty accurate.

For example, i never heard of the link Dhag gave you. Register and update the map if you're so fond

EDIT: i had a bookmark of that website, not using it so much because mostly inaccurate / fake

Depends the person updating it.  Again, guildie updates the map on orrmaps and is very accurate on SoS.

OBL recently moved to JQ because the old server went poof. We maintain a map ourselves. We've been settling the past few days but now we're ready to do the old events again and update the map.
