Short bow or Long Bow, I don't really care. I just want to be using a bow as my main weapon, both in PvE and PvP. I've been considering Ranger but the last time I checked, Rangers were like super underpowered from what I've heard. However, truth to be told, I haven't been really active in the last two months. So, any tips?

3 Professions can use a Bow : Warrior (Longbow), Thief (Shortbow), Rangers (Shortbow & Longbow).

There is probably some good Bow build for Warrior and Thief, but Warrior is better at melee and for range i prefer the rifle. For thief, you gonna use shortbow for range, but do far more damage with dagger.

The Rangers is the best professions if you want to play Bow as a main weapons. Personnally i prefer using the shortbow with a critical build. The shortbow shoot each 0,5 second giving you a lot of crit. If you combine that with sigil and food that give you bonus on crits you got yourself a fun and good build for a rangers.

Its the build i use for my rangers but there is a lot of options.

You mean rangers? And they are probably the best if you want just long bow and short bow. They triumph in range and damage from bows so I think they are your best shot. The class is basically built around bows for crying out loud!
Plus Arenanet are always busy balancing things so I think you shouldn't be concerned of being underpowered.

Haven't played around much with bows except for my Thief with her shortbow, which is pretty nice. Skill 1 bounces between targets and is a combo finisher, skill 2 is a ground targeted cluster bomb thing (also a finisher) which you can detonate for greater spread (which can be fun and very efective), skill 3 is a backwards leaping evasion that cripples, skill 4 is a ground targeted poison cloud combo field and skill 5 is a "shadowstep where you shoot" ability. The shortbow feels more defensive to me and honestly I wasn't too impressed at first, but it got me through certain situations where other weapon setups felt problematic. The Risen seem to hate me when I use it though and make a beeline for me, and its poison cloud is ineffective vs some foes like Risen Hyleks.

It feels more like a hit-and-run skirmishing weapon, not really bursty but pretty mobile. Just turn off the "press to ground target" option thingy and it's much faster and more fun.

Rangers are pretty decent. They can stack up a lot of raw damage with the longbow and a pretty damn good at surviving with the shortbow. I didn't like the longbow on my warrior, although visually I find the dual shot awesome, and thief, while pretty good) has a tendency of unintended lures with the shortbow that I don't really like.
