I have Apprentice Toy Maker, I got the kill present carriers one by doing this and it still helps the team at the same time well sort of.

Choose scout, Hide behind the hill at enemy spawn point, close but out of sight.

Wait until enemy has a gift and is running back to base. This may take some time.

Once they are at top of hill but not too close to there base, hit cloak...run towards target carrying gift, at this point he will have no bodyguards as they will think he is safe and run past his team mates, hit sniper shot while cloaked with full charged, this will nuke him to 10-20% health, then spam every you have that does alot of damage at point blank range.

Don't be surprised if you get called exploiter or hacker after you pretty much one shot them in a second and stop them scoring. It pissed them off alot.

He dies, you get achievement point, you stop enemy team from scoring. Everyone wins :)

Thats how I got mine anyway. repeat and rinse. :P

The funniest thing was noone caught onto what I was doing, so I would just cloak back up and hide behind the same hill again right next to there spawn. Basically meant there was no chance of them ever scoring a point.

I didn't have any fun with the Snowball Mayhem.

The idea of having a 'capture the flag' mini-game sounded fun. I had a blast with the Lunatic court.
But then, oh jeez...

1- It's a real zerg/chaotic fest. I got knocked down from left to right (it's Orr v2 lol) without understanding what the hell was going on.
2- The achievements kill the game. I played around 10 games and I'm still at 2 for stoppers and 1 for bringer. The games end before I can give any attempts.
3- Because of ^ this, few to no people helped me when I had the gift in order to be the ones to pick it up at my death. No team work at all. The amount of time I died at the gate of my base with the gift only to see a random folk pick it up and make it to the end is frustrating. I'm not rewarded for helping others and they aren't.

Having achievements in minigames kill the minigames. It's a shame though, because I completed every other activities from Wintersdays so far but I had so much a bad experience with Snowball I don't think I'll play it again, well not until late in the event, since lot of players play for the achievements.

Same here. It's so hard getting achievements that rely on other players assistance.A large majority of the players in the snowball instance just suck so it's pretty difficult to try and get them. Everything else ( Which all relied on just myself) I got.

Anyone able to get the music bells down? The timing and music is so off that I can't even grasp the concept of timing key presses to that. This is arguably the poorest designed minigame out of the 3.

Another good tip: when you're playing Scout - vanish, run UP to your enemy, as close as you can and hit "3". The "AoE"-Slingshot spell - it will hit the single target with a 90% chance - does roughly 40.000 Damage on targets usually having about 25k - so yeah - kills them neatly while you're still stealthed ;D

It's actually not, they could have done a better job explaining it, though.

You have to hit the colour's key after it penetrated the blue circled platform you're standing on - best to do this from a bird's eye perspective and align your keys to 1234 - 6789 and treat it like a piano. If you know when to hit the buttons, it becomes rather easy to hit the perfect 600.

And if you do it like that - the song you produce sounds great too! :D

I have seen a couple of people who had experiences like this, but I have never seen anything short of teamwork excluding the few teams I had that obviously didn't understand the object of the game. The arena is quite enjoyable though I haven't really decided if I like GW1's more or not... they both have their pros but I thought the present spawn system in GW1 was better. I also think the downed system detracts from the game as opposed to adding to it.

Anyways, the achievement is an attempt to get people to focus on the present as opposed to killing other players and it does a decent job of it. A better one would be to have a "win so many matches" achievement, but it doesn't put any drive to make the plays on the present running (running is boring). If they didn't have the achievement, I would bet that a good number of players wouldn't even notice the arena existed.

The best class for the achievement is the scout... might be the best class overall. The best match I had was when literally everyone on both teams were scouts. People were popping in and out of stealth everywhere and you never knew when someone might have a bead on you.

Snowball is fun when I'm not trying to get the gift stealer achievement. IF I'm trying to get that it is TERRIBLE and I hate it. I honestly don't think i'm gonna get that achievement which stinks cause I decided back at halloween to try and get every special event achievement they put out :/

Did I already say that I absolutely love the extra materials tab!! ^_^

Overall I think Wintersday is pretty decent. And an improvement on the Halloween event.

Occasionally, I missed notes that I was certain that I was hitting, but overall, I didn't have much trouble.  Just hit them after they've crossed into the blue area, and you should be fine.

The other players being off on their notes was distracting, though.

I don't consider the 'free' collection storage as part of the "content". However, I'm glad they did this and helped to free up pack slots on some alternate characters. It also looks like there is a pending hook to store dungeon tokens -- something else I look forward to seeing.

On Content, I'm curious to see what the culmination of the mini-dungeon/arena will be. While I am concerned that Anet is not giving folks a reasonable path to collect the various mini-pets (I viewed the Halloween event as reasonable), it seems best to wait and see what happens when Tixx gets to Lion's arch.

Like a few others I've seen posting, I would like a baby Quaggan. The adults are cute... the babies are anime eyes cute.

As for the snowball event, I think I'll see if I can get some guildies to team up with me so we can do it proper.

The jump puzzle and music activity I have yet to try. I'm just wandering the map and killing stuff and seeing what I can see -- a personal favorite pasttime in this game.

Hex.
[ Thinks the final battle should be with a giant moth, and the only way to beat it is to kill it with stacks of wool clothes... ]

Although we have a nice dungeon, I think the Wintersday lack a new persistent area like the Mad King's labyrinth where everybody could hang out between activities. Now when I log on, I alternate between the Snowball or the jumping puzzle and that's it...

It's fun anyway though.

That wasn't introduced right away, though. I am hoping that when Tixx lands in LA a new phase will kick off and we get a persistent area like the Mad King's realm. We do already have more to do from Day one on Wintersday than we did at Halloween, so I will wait and see what happens.

The Snowball Arena is pretty good. Its competitive ceiling is lower though than GW1. (Then again the whole game is lower skill so meh moot point). But it would make a sick capture the flag map with some slight terrain tweaks (Put flag in the center in the iced over pond.) Or Even a 5 way cap points with one in the ice pond and two slightly at the bottom of the hill. Or even a GvG map with flag in the battlefield and a shrine of some sort in ice pond or a gate switch for each team that blocks off the shortcut through the mountains or both. Shit son Anet hire me. I'm giving you free ideas that shouldn't be free.

The Puzzle is nice to look at but too easy IMO. Good ideas on splitting up the start. You Should inter-weave the paths/have earlier+more cross-over points. Not every path has to lead to the end either, though that would require you to make one that's actually non-linear. If you're worried about people finding it too hard. Then instead of doing disappearing paths or deadly fog, Put a 2 min Countdown timer one it and suspend it in the air(so falls end the run and no weird terrain mountain hopping to circumvent the puzzle.) Then you go with the gold/silver/bronze medal ranking system based on time completed in. With any medaling completion earning the puzzle achievement. The rank then determines how many extra event items you receive. better rewards for skill. better skill ceiling. better overall fairness. After all in any jumping puzzle/game the "second level" skill is doing it for speed once you've already completed it. Win-Win for casual-hardcore. Those that hate jumping puzzle will continue to not play. Ignore those people.

The Dungeon is meh so far. I honestly don't even really know what the events in it are and I've done it every day. its that boring and faceroll. I ran around just swiping at trees for the entire thing once, and not a person said a word or noticed i wasn't there. Though they did ask what was that when i popped the achievement for them all.

The extra crafting and minis are cool. Though I wish there were a few more non-themed skins. Still enjoying it all though. :)

The dungeon missions are so mind numblingly boring. I was expecting something different each day, like a story perhaps, advancing each day.
But no, we get this tripe they have implemented.
Lets hope this toypocolypse is decent, everything else has been lacking. I thought Halloween was bad but from taking part in witnersday, I actually preferred Halloween.

Maybe .... ^_^

The new insignia is usless, alas, I mean 1% boon duration (ONE)???
I mean: you have food that gives 20%, that's more than 3 times a full set gives you.
And you sacrifice +234 of another stat for those 6%?! What's the point?

So I heard there was a one time reward for talking to Tixx.  Even got an in-game mail about it.  I finished up clearing a zone and then I ported to the Heart of the Mists so that I could take the portal to Lion's Arch and get my swag.  When I got to the Heart of the Mists, I noticed that Tixx was standing right there.  So I talked to him to get my reward and there was no indication at all that there were two different rewards to choose from: a PvP reward and a PvE reward.  It locked me in for accepting a PvP reward since I was in the Heart of the Mists, but I don't PvP.  I feel like I got gypped out of my Wintersday swag and there's nothing I can do about it.  Did this happen to anyone else?

Are the rewards for pvp tixx different and does it lock you out of tixx lions arch rewards?

Yes, the rewards are different and yes it does lock you out of the Lion's Arch rewards.

You get 6 finisher consumables and a PvP Toymaker's bag which is a back item that you can only equip with your PvP armor.  It has no stats and as far as I can tell, it doesn't even change your character's appearance.  It's worthless.

Edit: Actually the PvP Toymaker's Bag does change your appearance the same way the PvE version does.  For some reason it just wasn't showing up on my character right away when I equipped it.

I found a trick on the princess doll tonic. If you cast the #2 on other players it has a random chance to put a retaliation or stability boon on them.
