Hi I downloaded the gw2 client today played and when I went to log on tonight it restarted to download again. Did I do something wrong? Or will it down load like this everytime? Thanks in advance.

If you had to download anything in neighborhood of 15 GB its likely that your .dat file (the GW2 game file) became corrupt. I've experience this myself due to a failure in the updating back in beta, but hasn't happened since then.
When updating refrain from closing it out if it seems like its stopped or frozen, that may cause the corruption. Just let it run, it will finish in due time.
If you continue to experience patching or download issues open a ticket with Anet and include your PC specs along with it.
