37 tries and still counting.

It definitely doesn't help that there's 6 people jumping along so they completely cover your character (esp. Norn). -.-

Just stop and wait for a few seconds, let them get ahead. I made it to the end several times(I farmed it) with over 30 seconds to spare. You're not incredibly stressed for time, you can make mistakes and still make it very easily.

IMO this JP was stupidly easy. Didn't really see the point. Don't get me wrong it was fun while it lasted, but with this difficulty it was done in 5 minutes. Shame really.

Perfect mouse turning. The timed jumping puzzles are really a lot easier with mouse turning.

Sounds like Combat Mod to the rescue, once more!

No this is challenging for players that expect to play a  MMORPG not a Jumping Simulation. You are just a elitist mate, you are probably one of those hipsters that belong on reddit every day posting about how hard it was in the old days. Shut the * up and if you don't like it don't play it.

Yeah! You tell him! Tired of people mocking me whenver I say something on this game is taxing on my own skills (even if manage to overcome the challenge). Be it jumping puzzles or Arah, there's always some schmuck telling me how "easy" they are, and how they should be harder. EVEN when Lupicus is trashing their sorry behinds or when they took a whole hour to learn the quirks of the Jumping puzzle and then another hour farming it.

Hipster elitists. All of them!

In an attempt to be helpful and not just condescending I went back in game and recorded myself running through the JP. I don't know if it will really help any of you but maybe it will give you some idea of what to think about when going through it.

I hope you guys make it through and that the vid will maybe help out(it should be up in a min or two). Good luck to you guys.

If you have longer loadtimes you're bummed. I don't know who had the idea to start the event as soon as the game starts to load, but I bet it was someone at ArenaNet who got a work machine with 8 GB memory and a SSD.

The first three tries the first steps were already gone when I was finally able to move.

That sucks. But just to clarify, it doesn't start as soon as the game starts to load. I load in and have to wait awhile for the platforms to appear.

It's definitely easier than the halloween one, but once you get your mouse turning down its not that bad actually.

I'm just glad the "timer" is your hp bar ticking away at a reasonable rate instead of the ridiculous puddle of crap that swallowed you at the clock tower.  that wasn't even fun imo, I actually have fun doing this one for a few tries.

I found this one insanely easy, especially compared to the clock tower. It took me two tries, and I could have passed the first time but I didn't know about the giant snowballs. I don't really have any tips, just keep moving, it's very straightforward.

I want to thank everyone who posted a video. They were very helpful. I struggled a lot at the beginning, but once I got through that, I was able to finish the rest without any problems because I knew what to expect.

My impression is that the beginning is the most important part. If you can save enough time, then you can take your time at the end. The quaggan path seemed the easier for me too, because it didn't have anything that caused my camera to zoom, and had some fairly straight areas that really helped to recover time.

For those who are saying "Norn has JP advantage" - suck it up buttercup, roll a bloody Norn to do your god damn JP if you must. I completed the JP with a human, sylvari and a norn. It's do-able, just pay attention to your environment! (and have faster reaction time lol)

Was able to do it on the third try, only because I went through hell with the clock tower.

Otherwise, it's a timed jumping puzzle in a not-platformer game, so still rough...

How is someone an elitist for wanting to be challenged? There should be some tough content for the people who want it, I don't see why ANet should cater to the people who whine until they get their way. That's the problem with people these days both in game and in real life, they want everything handed to them on a silver platter.

No you guys are CRYING that this is  not enough challenge for you guys. I don't want everything handed to me I LIKE THIS PUZZLE. You guys are the ones that dont and expect you guys to be treated BETTER than the casual players. When this is a CASUAL HOLIDAY EVENT. Not a Ascended gear level dungeon.

You can't just have faster reaction time princess. You are USED to having a faster reaction time or you train yourself to have it. This takes a while and not a day.

The puzzle is terrible and arenanet should be ashamed.

The game just isn't designed for jumping puzzles. They should stick to making an mmo and not gimpy mario.
Except that they're completely optional and some people really enjoy them, huh?

This jumping puzzle was an improvement, and a step back from the clocktower. Hopefully they can get it right the next time they make one of these.

Having the puzzle split up the starting locations was a great idea. It solved the issue with the clocktower being so cluttered at the start. The tower itself wasn't really hard, you just couldn't see where you were going in the beginning.

The puzzle itself was a bit of a let down though. The design was nice visually, but the puzzle didn't have any particularly interesting challenge. The jumps were very strait forward with nothing that really seemed like you might not make it or that it would be hard to aim. There was no "hidden" jump as the puzzle never doubles back, drops below itself, or "evolve" (think the explosions for clocktower). The puzzle was mostly "Hold W and hit space repeatedly."

Splitting up the start was great. Removing the tricky jumps... not so great.

Edit: Oh and I so thought there was going to be another hidden chest at the top of the second jumping puzzle at the top.

Eh, "hidden" jumps don't actually make it challenging.  You just have to look it up on a guide before you do it.

After 60 tries I just gave up. It's just not my thing I guess! ^_^

Not that I'm so bad at jumping (I've done a lot in game) but the time pressure is really killing.
I either make a mistake and fall down or the snowflake disappears from under me.

Heres what I'm doing and its working. Just perfect your jumps. Don't take like 10 seconds just do it when you feel its right. You may fall but in the end this got me farther than rushin it.

I prefer this over Halloween Clock Tower, this puzzle is similar to another JP in Caledon Forest with the disappearing platforms.

I noticed the hefty resemblance too.

If anyone in local chat (or in this thread....) complains about how hard it is, trust me when I say do that one first. It's basically a longer and less crowded version of the dissapearing platform part. If you can pass that (it's called Spekks’ Laboratory btw), you can easily do the Wintersday Jumping Puzzle with little effort.

Well then, I'm sorry for your loss. Spend more time practicing then, you have about 19 days left. I'm sure if you REALLY want it, you can get it. Some people have spent over 5hrs till they got the Halloween JP - and Wintersday JP is supposed to be easier. You can do it if you try harder princess.

Except I've looked at most walkthrough videos out there and am probably over 5 hours. Those videos people are turning at massive speeds. Those speeds aren't even possible with my ping.

You could say that about anything? The people who are looking up a guide on a jumping puzzle before doing it aren't the ones a jumping puzzle should be designed for.

Just saying I use Rhino Communications for my ISP. It's got a cap of 60kb/s (down and upload combined), and a minimum ping of ~300ms at all times. Hey, it's cheap, I have a very low budget.

Still, I beat it on my 14th try for the first time. Do the jumping puzzle I mentioned above, it's extremely good practice since it's nearly the exact same type of JP, and you'll likely have no one else there, so you'll get the least ping possible, and not have other people blocking your view. It'll get you use to fast dissapearing platforms. Just be sure to use the robot assistants to get back to the section you were on before, if you don't, it's harder than the Wintersday one.

The key is to rote learn the puzzle if are really bad at it. Also, turn camera rotation speed to max and always keep right click depressed.

its much easier than the clock tower.
as for possible tips:

-check out youtube vids of it
-turn down gfx settings to increase fps
-same with other programs hogging net bandwidth
-turn off music (helps for some)
-use ctrl-shift-h to turn off the interface for less distractions
-if you are using it, turn off the double tap to evade
-zoom out at the start
-unlike the clock tower, this new puzzle has a much longer leeway
before the snowflakes dissolve. you could let the other players
go on a little ahead (like 1-2 platforms) and still complete it with no problems.
-go/stay on overflows with fewer people, or try it again on times with fewer people.
