stealth players do have a faint shadow when invisible, however i dont think anyone would notice it within a cluster of effects.

i notice a players who followed my path exactly while i was in stealth. cheat or not?

You should only be able to see the outline if you are allies.  Enemies don't see anything when looking at you.

I'd just assume that you two happened to be going to same way for some reason.

Was this in WvW, PvP, or Snowball Arena?

Or you went in a very predictable direction when you are stealthed.

Try running in a certain direction, stealth and then directly go opposite way, you'll escape 95% of the time. :)

that is what i did. he might have followed any potential dots on me, however i didn't notice any dots on me when it happened. should have screen-capped it to be sure next time.

I think a lot of TF2 players are dusted off their "predict where the spy is going" sense and using it on thieves :P

I don't suppose you had Thieves Guild up or Runes of the Ogre giving you a NPC ally? I've been followed before by NPC's allied to me following me even when in Stealth giving away my route.

How is it cheating if ANet put a graphic for a shadow in the game? If you ask me, the dude was being observant. Also, some of the thief skills that grant have a graphic that shows up even when the thief doesn't.

Anytime a thief attacks someone and doesn't instantly kill them then dissapear before retaliation is cheating, obviously.

Anet to add "removes stealth"  effect to certain aoe abilities with a debuff on reuse.

Fixed.

i didn't have it up and indeed this is also an easy way to know which way a stealthed thief is heading.

I really dont write on forums too much but love to read them to keep me updated, this time I really have the feeling to put something about current gw2 issue and the name is balance, the first time I hear about gw2 a couple of friends told me to try it because it was really balanced and the game play was awesome, all went really nice until you reach the pvp stage and then you see that the balance got lost and and you get bored and bored to get killed by hidden thieves and even if you are with friends a couple of thieves could get stealth like 85% of the figth and wipe out 5 or more of you without too much issues. I had like 15 friends that already left the game because of that and the only 3 ones that are left are the ones who play thieves so at the end this will be a thieves vs thieves game and what is happening is that from a 500 guild only 20-50 get logged  (I played lineage 2 for 7 years and this is first time I see that guilds get 15% or less of their population online), this means that people get really bored to die in the most none sense way and quit.

Hope anet make a change on thieves or gw2 population will dissapear really soon, is sad because gw2 is an amazing piece of game with a very op problem on a profession.

Sorry for my english, is not my native language.

I think thieves can stay stealthed almost 100% ( maybe Im wrong on that ).

So to counter thieves as soon as you are hit CHANGE DIRECTIONS. They will not kill most people from a distance need to backstab to be really effective.

Next drop some aoe. If you dont have that LEAVE.

Best strategy is always travel in at least 3. If a thief downs one protect and rez. Fight with numbers.

Lastly did mention if you have no aoe then leave?

Thieves are nuisance but not op. The problem is it is hard to fight someone that has alot of closing options while invisible almost 100% of the time. Most are very fragile and you need to ding them.

Probably just bad luck, I have never noticed any such "shadow" under stealthed players.

It wouldn't be that bad if they actually had some risk involved, but giving near perma-invis, outrageous burst and closers to a class which also has some of (if not the) best escape is absurd. Not only can they pick and choose their fights and kill easy targets before they can even react, but they can easy just pull off, vanish and run away again if the fight turns against them. It's too much in one class, especially since ANet specifically stated that they were aiming to address the balance issues which always surround stealth classes.

It's easy to kill unprepared players no matter what class you are. That being said be prepared. And that depends on your class.

I am a thief. But I don't like the fragility of the backstab build so I run S/D. No I can't drop someone in three seconds but the same time a BS thief can't drop me. Roll for Initiative is the thief "get out of jail free" move. When something hits me that I can't see I roll. Then lock down the now visible thief (because he attacked to start chain) and down them in three shots because BS thieves have no health or armor.

So find your classes stun breaker and use it. And you too will laugh at BS thieves.

if you need 3 players to be safe from 1, i hardly see that as balanced.
not every class should go 1 on 1, but i should at least be allowed to react to a thief instead of being bursted down instantly.

You can go walk alone, but chances are that you will get jumped by a thief without noticing him if you do so. And if you fail to notice him, then the glasscannon(thief, probably other glasscannons as well) has a huge advantage over you and will probably kill you.

Nah bro, they will find the nearest NPC animal or white creature and start their perma invis run cycle once they can't get you.

That's a laugh. It used to be World of Roguecraft, now it'll be Thieves War 2.

The whole design of stealth+burst+escape is misplaced in a PvP game. It's awesome in PvE content, but it's totally out of place in PvP.

The biggest aberration is the absence of visual feedback when slashing someone invisible.

I can understand not being able do see stealth players, but when my sword meet their face, i should know that i'm hitting something because my avatar get this direct feedback from the weapon in his hands...

This could balance stealth without nerfing it.

There are a variety of ways to track a stealthed thief.

   Pets, turrets, phantasm....stuff like that.

My guess is that something was on you giving away the direction you were in.

idk if they fixed this or this was on purpose, but using an aoe melee ability on someone invisible will give you a hit sound feedback,so for someone with warrior/double axe and thing like this is kinda easy track someone by the sound it give you the ability if you hit someone
