  • Magnetic Grasp now only applies a leap combo if the player is standing in the field.
  • Ride the Lightning no longer resets attunement cooldowns.
  • Fixed a bug with diminishing returns affecting the daily rewards from the Wintersday dungeons. We will be following up in the next few days with our plans for the players impacted by this problem.
  • Fixed several exploits and bugs.

They fixed the HotW exploit for certain...and they added spawns to the butcher run's first boss after the troll. Because that guy isn't hard enough on his own they add 30 second respawns of high-health claymores, sages and hunters.

They made it so you can no longer preview armor for another armor class

I want to know why this change was considered necesary.  they allow us to buy and transmute armor we can not wear so that other toons on our account can wear it.  But now we have to do it blind unless we look at some webpage somewhere to see what it looks like.

And its not like this is GW1 where every profession had different looks.  Here your warrior may look just like your ranger and maybe you want to preview several armors for both without having to keep logging out and back on.

All it does is introduce inconvenience.

A really non-sensical "bug" fix.

HotW is the second highest dungeon. Of course it is supposed to be hard. The fact that most Explorable modes are lacking does not mean they should not fix it.
Explorable mode is supposed to be HARD after all.

This was fixed with the first wintersday update...I noticed because I'm always previewing other class armor that drops for me.

Yeah it's supposed to be hard...but when it's a certain way for 3 months straight and all of a sudden they change it without explaining it, causing the team to get ambushed at a place with a specific method of completion, it's pretty lame. At least spell it out in the notes so we know to expect something.

So people should never have to actually think you mean?

I for one would love to have the dungeons randomized so that you can't simply learn a exact pattern and then use it over and over and over and over and over again.

What they did by changing this is forcing people to actually play the game. Simple as that.

Dumbest thing out there. The guy who implemented this with this update, must have been crazy hermit without eyes. Seriously.
Why?
It was very cool to preview Heavy Armor parts on my Charr Engineer, because I was planning on creating charr warrior. And now..? Go blind for it? Yeah, right.
Stupid idea. ANET. Ultra Stupid.

Well, it is quite logical to not allow you to preview gear you can't use.

I fail to understand the logic. It's a game and you're PREVIEWING, not BUYING it. If I have a char of level 80 and planning on creating a new char, whatever other profession, it would actually be nice to see what armor sets I like even before creating it. I could just buy that armor set and transmute it. Right now? Create another char and either a) go to dulfy or whatever other website to see all armor sets or B) play the game until you reach level 80 and then preview all the armor sets available to your character. What was the harm done to the players with previewing an armor set? I still don't follow the logic behind this. When buying dungeon armor sets, I think you get a window in which you're being asked if you're sure about your purchase. I think it would have been better if they made all armor sets available for previewing, but the only armor set which we could buy would be the one suiting our profession. Grey out the buttons for other armor than the one type I'm wearing, but still allow me to preview whatever I want. That's just lame. Doesn't bother me, but it's still lame.

So, what if they added a system that made all gear you could not use invisible?
Would people complain about that as well? Seeing as that is more or less the exact same thing.

Keep in mind that quite a few people have shouted about wanting a system just like that.

No what if's. Where's the logic behind not allowing me to preview any armor set I want to? I fail to understand why was this such an important thing to do and why did they do it in general. Too many people asking them to because they bought heavy armor while they were light armor professions? Too many people bothered that the armor window has so many armor sets that it makes them confused about which one are they wearing? I don't understand.

Me neither, they do this and haven't fixed the "right mouse button selects stuff as well as turns camera bug"

My girlfriend will go ballistic when I tell her, she loved seeing all armours first before choosing a race and profession.

One thing you can do is just take your character to the sPvP area. In the lobby there is the pvp chest. From there you can preview all the different armor and most weapons, even if you don't have it. It is great for mixing and matching different pieces to find your look. The one thing to be weary of is that the names of the armor is different, but using the wiki you can usually find out what PvP armor maps to in PvE.

Yeah the previews changes suck ballz....

There was no reason to do it is just stupid decision.

As I am completing areas and hearts I would check out karma vendors and check out all the skins to see if I wanted any for me or my alts. Now I cant check the light and medium armors on anything without logging on to my alt and running through every single map again...

Anet this is just plain stupid.

Maybe it's a bug? I mean you can still preview weapons that your character can't use.

And since HotW is probably the least-pugged dungeon out there, this further kills it except for guild runs. Hooray, force people into bigger guilds, abandoning their smaller, more loyal guilds so they can do content.

Why would you abandon your smaller guild?

You can join multiple guilds in this game.

i think they didn't want people to be able to see all the clipping that occurs when you cross armor classes (ie previewing long coats while wearing a skirt).  They don't want people to see their art in a bad light.
Which I can sorta understand... but it is still a dumb update.  As people have said, this causes way more inconvenience and people will just go to a fan site.

Yeah, represent the larger guild just to read/use chat, anything I do while repping that guild goes to that guild, not my smaller one. So I'm going to pop over to the big guild, get a group, then rep the small guild? Instead of all that, Anet should stop putting arbitrary walls in the way of casual players in favor of keeping hardcore players happy.

I actually reported it as a bug last night when I discovered in game I could not preview a drop (for my alt) in my backpack (after verifying that it also affected all the cultural / karma vendors as well.)


Going to a fan site to view armor is not going to cut it. It is not only inefficient, it is also ineffective. There are a hair / armor combinations that do not display correctly (hair goes through armor for example) that can only be seen via preview.

Yes, this has been a wonderful tool. Up until now. Given the vendors would not allow preview, my guildmate and I headed out to do this (as we often do). We found that even some of the armor types we should have been able to preview were not displaying.

I see daily pugs for HotW Explorable on my server. Maybe it is just your server that don't like it?

Indeed, rather than giving us TP previews, they essentially go in the opposite direction and give us less generally!

My theory is that there is an "armour preview" token on its way from the cash shop in the new year.  They'll have your pound of flesh one way or another.

You might see someone asking for a group, as I do, but I join and we get to maybe 3 people, wait a half hour as guildies ignore requests for help, and it just falls apart.

Of course there is.
Along with the "Get to max level with all skills, traits and full ascended armor" token. :)

I did a run as late as yesterday, got full group quite fast.
