So they did see the 'clusterbomb of people' as an issue then.

Whoosh.
High populations happen whenever new content is released, if you don't want to play with others, do it towards the end of the event. They culled the "Issue" with Clock Tower by spreading people, yet it still isn't good enough for some people.

I shouldn't have to be forced into playing content on an MMO solo just because some people play a small race.

Most people in the game are complete aholes (witness some of the posts in this thread) so jumping on my lonesome would suit me fine. It would also let me practice and get better at (speed) jumping without limiting my attempts to once every 2 minutes.

Seriously a game which punishes failure by making you stand doing nothing for the balance of 2 minutes (or actually surrounded by aholes which is worse than doing nothing) has fail written all over it.

So now it's already bad design to punish failure with a 2 minute wait? :P

You're right, every time you fail they should make it easier and easier.
So in the end it's not even necessary to learn, just keep failing and finally you'll get it on a silver plate.

I play an online RPG. The "MMO" part of it is just an irritating side effect.

GW1 showed you could have both sides really well. MMO doesn't automatically mean open world, it's just an arbitrary designation.

If the acronym MMO is so important, make your own, like IORPG, instanced online etc...

Exactly.

Agreed, I don't see people complaining when they do this in FPS games like L4D. Besides, if you fall late, your waiting is shorter.

And you can watch the puzzle from the waiting area and, you know, maybe pick up some hints of what's to come out of it.

I agree that a lot of - especially big characters - jumping along with you and not being able to see your own character can be annoying and doesn't help finishing the JP.

That said, I think a far better solution would have been to let people jump in their own instance, like the HoM instance or Storyline instances, and not pack people together like it happens now. It would also reduce waiting times.

It would turn it into an epic lag-fest, due to a bazillion individual instances running concurrently.

Then, instead of complaints about a minute or so waiting time, there'd be complaints about it being impossible to complete, impossible to start before snowflakes melted, etc.

Lag fest? So why is not a lag fest when you play story mode solo istances? :surprised:

Well it took me ~150 tries to complete, wasn't complaining about it though.
I knew it wasn't really my thing beforehand so it would require some extra effort! :)

Because there aren't a bazillion people trying to do story mode solo instances at once.
-They are not events that only run once-per-year
-People don't repeat them endlessly to learn how to do them, and then farm them endlessly.

How are they farmable?
I don't think they give much of a reward after completing it the 1st time?

You get 3 presents from the chest every time you complete it. Once a day, you get the extra goodies too.
People who are good at it, will be completing it every couple of minutes.
Presents have a chance of dropping the Unbreakable Bell, the Endless Toymaker Tonic, maybe even the Festivoo mini.

Against all odds, I got the Unbreakable Bell myself, after farming a couple of hundred presents from the JP.

Hmm. I don't really want those.

Is there also a chance of getting the permanent self-style hair contract? ;)

Anet somehow normalizing everyone to one size sounds fair enough to me. But to suggest I ought to roll a new toon—complete with a character slot purchase—to avoid some random thinking I'm a "jackass" might be overstating your case a bit.

If you want to go there, technically you could bring a larger toon with no greater difficulty than me bringing a smaller one. You can't just arbitrarily declare yourself to be the baseline to which all others have to conform any more than I can.

No doubt would be funnier and enjoyable doing this kind of jp events if shaped all in the same way (with random variations and gender variations clarly) then wait the customer roll an alt just to not read "Oh no not again, a damned norn and 2 charr, bad overflow i'll try again"

I pity you if you really have to blame the race of another player and their height and body mass for your lack of dexterity.

I like the jumping puzzles just the way they are, I rlly dont understand your whining. I play the most tiny asura and I still make it through all the jumping puzzles even when they are full with big charrs jumping around. You guys should be happy cus it actually gives you a challenge. But thats just my opinion :)
