Present Etiquette - snatch and run?

It's really sad to see this happening. Going through zones and finding the mobs milling around. Or worse, a set of "leftover" mobs surrounding the large present that has respawned, requiring two sets of killing.
Granted, the princess dolls can be annoying hard to kill without an ability to remove the confusion condition.
The other mobs are not that difficult to take down solo.
Sadly, the players that leave these mobs behind have forfeited an opportunity to get more presents because the mobs that spawn also provide a chance at more dropping more gifts / ugly sweaters / socks .
Please folks, don't leave your mess behind for other players to clean up.
Santa would not approve.

I've gotten enough of them just doing the wintersday dungeon to get the monthly anyways, so I just avoid them anymore.

Killing those toy monster take too long and the present disappear before you're done and you will most likely not even get one from killing them because drop rate is too low so unless they are skritt, I open the box, loot and run away.

If it helps, just consider it proof that you're a better human being than them or something.

If you open the present while the mobs are present, more won't spawn, even if there was only one left, so fighting two sets shouldn't be an issue. Thus, the best practice would be to leave one monster alive at each spawn location.

Don't you think that's pretty selfish though, expecting other people to fight 2 groups of mobs that you've just said you believe are too difficult to even fight 1 lot?
But I guess that's what's wrong with people, only interested it what'll suit their own needs....

Who said we had to kill the mobs? When you open a present you usually get something nice. So take the 'nice' and leave the 'nasty'.

If we're just talking about the dolls then; well I've only fought them on 2 classes, one exotic geared 80 and one erm fine or masterwork geared 30 something, and could handle them ok, few downed states on level 30. But if they're difficult to solo for most of the classes and/or most players, then I can accept leaving them around more than the others.
However the only truly non-selfish method is just to kill them. If you can't handle it, then get a friend/guildie/random person etc to duo them. For me it's the same attitude to running past a champion mob guarding a skill point that someone else is fighting, taking the point then running off.

Well that would be part of my idea of selfish. Take the nice bits only and leave someone else to deal with your rubbish/nasty bits as well as their own. Do you also chuck all your rubbish, packaging and waste etc in the doorway to shops just because you want the nice bits but cba dealing with the nasty/waste/crap bits?
Maybe I'm getting old or something, but growing up it'd be called courtesy and manners. Maybe it's like another posted said; that it's the internet mentality, and that it's only for me that it's the same?

If it was actually fun or rewarding to kill them, everyone would kill them. Now they are just annoying and completely pointless, so people avoid them.
That's the biggest problem with this game. The fun is always locked behind annoyance.

Pssst: you are supposed to put a wink after comments like that so it's obvious the statement is tongue-in-cheek.

Glad you have not had the experience of having to deal with leftover mobs. I have killed two sets of dolls solo (yes, I've been in a down state and come back, they're a little tricky but doable), as well as skritt and plush griffons that surround the next present. Haven't had the problem with the toy soldiers. Either there's a timer bug or I just have had a little more bad luck than some.
Had a quick conversation with someone yesterday that ran up and popped the present as I was about to, snatched the spawned presents and ran off. He said "I enjoy being passive aggressive." That's a response I've heard in this game before. I guess that's the latest rationalization these days for "entitled" behavior?
Bottom Line:
* I would actually like to have had ANet solve this problem by only allowing those that participate in the fight be able to pick up the presents that spawn.
* And I'd like them to hang around on the ground a little longer to allow folks to get back to them from a waypoint, if they insist that the dolls do that many stacks of confusion. (Input from guildmate.) I'd prefer they tone the dolls down, however, given the other mobs I also see left behind, that won't solve the problem.
* And in the meantime, some of this could be addressed by old fashioned courtesy.

You get more presents and event drops with those kills, so if they leave them behind they're leaving you more drops. The only group that is marginally difficult are the dolls if you don't pay attention to confusion and can't remove it.

Sigh, well I have trouble with them on my new character. If you're still low leveled and you pop one of those prezzies to get a mob of toys on you (who can get the hit on you because you're flopping about the floor from the shock >.> ) it's night night for your character.
Seriously, lv3 toys cut through starting characters.
That said, I don't snatch and run. At worst they remain cause I went down, but normally I just kill them.
