well, thats a very generic "build"  :surprised:

I'm really bad at telling people builds, because i think everyone should play with their characters and try out different builds as you go.

But basically you'll either want to go Power/Precision/Crit dmg gear, or heavy condition dmg. Then for traits, you can determine what you want on how you like to play. Want alot of dmg, put most your points into crit strikes and deadly arts. You want dmg and survival? try something like 30/0/0/20/20. Or 0/30/0/20/20/0.

Personally i've been torn between using D/D with Shortbow, and P/P with shortbow. And sometimes P/P with D/D (really wish you could equip three weapons).

If you gave more info on what kind of armor you're running, what lvl you are, what other weapon you like to use, I could probably give you some pointers on where to go from there.

Personally I prefer a condition damage build, but that's just my personal preference, so I focus on the Trickery line, with Acrobat second and Deadly Arts third.

I've found SoM kind of lackluster, even for when I was running a backstabby, bursty stealth build because you don't want to actually activate the signet, lest you lose the passive heal-on-hit.  That being said, a condition build would benefit from using one of the other heal skills because the SoM doesn't trigger on a bleed or poison hit, only a direct damage hit.

SoM is nice when you pair it with Quickness (Haste is the utility skill, I believe) and Dagger Storm, it can proc way too many times and its overly ridiculous in its heals....BUT I don't know that keeping it around for just those situational possibilities outweighs that either Withdraw or Hide-in-Shadows are useful in a variety of situations.

I personally am a fan of D/D, but have been playing a bit with S/D, which gives me a different kind of feel to my playstyle.  Weapon choice largely comes down to what feel you like, be that Shortbow, Pistol/Pistol, Dagger/Dagger, Sword/Dagger, etc.  Personally, I didn't like the S/D when I was first starting out because the Sword felt clunky, IMHO, but I'm starting to like it a bit better on my second thief.

I would agree with Vysander that if you would post your armor, traits and skill setup it would probably be easier to help you out (or, if you aren't up to that level to really have a set build, post what you think you would like to run).

Sorry this took so long, been away from my comp for a while. With a condD thief the main two stats you want to look for is condition damage and condition duration. They just recently added an armor type that gives condition duration, but I haven't gotten a chance to really look at it yet.

You can build a condD thief without power, but that leaves you with prec (most armors that have condD on it also have either power or prec). I haven't found prec to be that beneficial for me because without some crit damage increase, prec based doesn't work quite as well...but if you are going a condD build, why would you take away possible condD stats to boost your non primary damage stat? Makes no sense. The other reason I end up with power is because that's what is on the Carrion armor and I use it because its dominant stat IS condD, rather than rampagers which has prec as its main stat.
