Hooray, more pandering to the weak-minded. It's too easy to get this achievement as it is, with the respawning town props, meaning you can build whatever you want whenever you want without very much thought to strategy, and if something gets destroyed, who cares? You can just make it again next round.
Way too easy.

The issue is the shitty implementation of the hotjoining. I haven't gotten a fresh instance, nor has antone bothered to stick around to start a second one. It's always been either coming in after a dolyak (or 3) were dead or starting the event down a player or two.
They already said they can't fix the implementation of the activity (whch some people call BS because paid tourneys can make premade teams), so they're changing the achievement. Personally I wish to get a group and go in and accomplish it with a perfct 10, but the hotjoin system puts a wrench in that.

Do you remember how many months it took them to get paid tournies working? I'm sure they could fix it, but not before Wintersday (and most of their Christmas breaks) were over.

Just saying that some people called BS on it. I'm mildly skeptical. I half believe it because the game's still a buggy mess. At least Wintersday's been relatively bug free.

Snowmen and catapults.
Snowmen and catapults.
Walls are a waste of time.
Snowmen and catapults.
Ballistae are a waste of time.
Did I mention snowmen and catapults?

I'm guessing it's because of people leaving as soon as a dolyak dies, creating room in games for more hotjoining players. These 'fail' games live on and on sucking players into them who just leave again, wasting everyone's time.
I'm at 37 waves now, all afk-ed in games with some dolyaks already dead.
Terrible game design.

The Skritt mercenaries were fairly resilient (personally I think worth the three Scraps),but their AI is horrible (REALLY?) and they let themselves get kited and don't come back to the center.

Second time was a good group. We dropped down a bunch of defenses early, and spent the rest of the game upgrading, reinforcing, and replacing those defenses, and clearing out those toys that got in the middle--which may or may not have been necessary.
Too bad they're nerfing the achievement. But I can't fault the solution for what was perhaps a bad implementation of the instance.
It has been fairly bug free. I would put that on the fact that most of the content is instanced. It doesn't need a server restart to unstick things, as instances generally restart themselves all the time. The only thing not instanced are the giant presents out in the world......which I DID actually find bugged once, when Plains of Ashford boxes were popping level 31 mobs. Took a couple of deaths before I realized it. >.<

Well to be honest, holiday events should be easy.
Anyway, a lot of this could be alleviated if they let people form their own groups to play it. But it is what it is and I'm not fussed by it. It's fun little event for a few times, not really a big deal.

Agreed. These are limited time events. If they're too difficult, people with less time to play can't enjoy the content, because they can't dedicate the time to get good at it.

Agreed x2. It's odd that they made that hot join, given it's a 5-man semi-scripted instance. But like you said: it is what it is. And I enjoyed it.

It's tower defense. And you have to let the tower do the work. Once you remember that, its a cake walk.
And even more so since now you only have to keep 1 dolyak alive. Trolololololol Anet.

seriously, this one WAS easy, the problems where only there on the first day because no1 knew what to do, now EVERYONE does that crap blinded, theres really nothing to it, but i guess Anet as to keep the loud minority satisfied.

They can't change it to that since that is exactly what it is now.
You don't survive the map if all Dolyaks die

go find a more difficult game then. go with the silent majority you seem to think exists that didn't ask for the easier achievement.

And i disagree here and say walls are useful. You only need 2x5=10 to cover all the dolyaks from getting zerged. 10 snow is really easy to get. Then you can spend the rest on catapults and snowmen, and pretty much afk till the champ golem comes. Anytime you break something it has a chance for a item pickup, and the terrain regenerates during the round.
Whatever point it is moot. The bad kiddies cried till they got their wish.
