Apparently there is a brand new exoctic shield in the game named Eidolon? It's a guardian shield, amazing blue shield thing. It's 700g in the shop and there is only one in the game? Anyone know how I could obtain this? Was it a Give-away item? Is it from a chest thats a rare drop?

It's the guardian spirit weapon shield. It's not necessarily new, but they must have finally fixed the recipe.

The only reason why it's so expensive is because it takes a gift of light to make. (Charged lodestones..)

Because it's a word pretty commonly used in fantasy games. So perhaps you have played Final Fantasy 13

it dropped it  so you could carry the essence back to get the bonus for the Mission on the Fire islands
