It sounds like you're trying to solo the thing. Story Modes should be completed in a 5 man group. You shouldn't have any problems with 4 others.

I am but I'm with braindead pugs where Elementalists only stay as fire or air.

Well, if they really are that bad I doubt there's much you can do. All I can really say is that if you find yourself taking too much damage, try to keep your distance. Other than that just hope for a decent team.

Also, AC usually isn't that difficult. I've never met a group I couldn't do it with, so you probably just had horrible luck.

Story Mode is a pain, I've only done it once because it's so troublesome and you won't find many experienced groups running Story Mode. Mind posting some more information about the build you're running, level, gear, etc?

I'm running a 10 in Deadly Arts, Critical strikes and slowly working to my 40s and leveling shadow arts. I switch between utilities often. Sometimes deploying Two Signets ( Shadows and Assassin), Shadow Refuge and Smoke Screen. I always have role for initiative equipped. My gear is mainly  masterwork crafted gear and my stats go from Power> Precision > Toughness > Vitality

Well second try I did it. Provided I ran it with 2 Guardians( One that was my guildy and probably the only one that did everything flawlessly ), a ranger and a warrior. The warrior was really derp and thought it was explorable mode even when we had already entered and started boss fights too early. We only wiped once at Relena and Vassar because they stood infront of her right when fight started.

I ran shadow refuge and smoke screen for most of the time and was really safe

Go D:D with thief, that's what I always do for any sungeon on my thief.
When you see a big attack coming, just time Death Blossom and you're invulnerable. :)

Yep thats what I did. Sometimes retreating to shortbow. However I can't really do it as fast as you cuz of Aussie ping though IMO it's not as big of a diff as people make it to be.

And D/D skill5 is nice when you have to much aggro. :)
Other than that, what i found most usefull was the trait which weakens your enemies every time you poison them, this combined with shortbow makes for perma AoE weakness which reduces pressure on your team alot.
