I just got to Level 80 on my Sylvari Guardian and have it fully geared(except a chest piece. Working on CoF tokens right now :S )

I don't know whether I should help my buddy level with my guardian to get map completion to get a legendary, or if I should just make an alt since my character is already geared.

Is the legendary worth it? Will there be ascended-tier weaponry? Or what?

Legendary items will be updated to match ascended weapons whenever they are introduced.

Though, if the skin is worth the time and effort, that's up to you.

Make one if you want one. It's just a skin(at least right now). They do take quite a bit of time to obtain, so if you don't mind something time consuming go for it.

Just a skin, although some look amazing. Be prepared to spend a while on getting one though.

start an alt. I get bored helping friends level with characters that already completed most areas. I at least want to feel like I'm accomplishing something while helping.

This, plus if you do map completion yourself it is much faster.

No reason you can't do both. Just switch to your 80 in zones you haven't completed yet. Of course if you left some minor stuff undone in each zone that's a horse of a different color.

If you are thinking about beginning to grind for a legendary better wait for the "big" January/February update unless you are already in love with one of the existing skins. If not, just hoard gold, materials and karma for now. We don't know what we will see then.

Alright. I'll wait since I rack up like 5g a day just running CoF. I haven't even started to farm Orr and salvage ectos.

Either way legendaries are a long term project for the hardcore players. If you believe you will play this game for a year or so you should make one. Also, plan according to how much time you believe it will take you to make a legendary. The twilight cost about 1500g to make so ~5g a day 300day. This does not take into account that you will probably passively farm half of the mat from normal dungeon run, so it will probably only cost you about 700 or 150days. The twilight is one of the most expensive legendaries that is why I used it as an example.

if you want the skin, then go for it.  just realize that statistically, they will never have any benefit over the same top stat weapons (exotic now, asscended in the future).  I personally started saving up for one in the form of t6 mats, ectos, karma jugs, etc, waiting to see what happens in the jan/feb updates to see if they release any more, edit existing skins, or change how some items are acquired.

I think I'll just wait since looks aren't all that important. I'd rather have stats on a simple looking weapon that spending more time for the same stats. It's like paying 100k for an athlete when you can get the same for 50k.  I'll wait for ascended weapons or whatever is in the patch.

If you play 30 hours a week, or more, you can. If you are a casual that plays less then that, don't. You will regret the time you put in it instead of doing fun stuff :] There are other nice weapons you can get that you might like, look around! I have been trying to get a legendary, and at this rate, will probably take me a year, since I barely play.

Been starting since 1 month after release; with a 1 month break on November. Also, you need MASS amounts of gold, and it continue to rise, at the current rate, you need to earn like 5-10g a day.... to make sure you get all the items you want to make it in  a couples months.

Tl;dr; Its not an epic quest, its an epic grind. Choose your time wisely.

this is the best advice anyone can give on a legendary.  I personally am vaguely working towards a juggernaut, but it's not my only goal.  I play SE with my guild to get the tokens for it, save my silver doubloons, am saving ecto and karma jugs, but am I actively farming gold and t6 mats and such?  absolutely not.  I'm playing to have fun, and I figure that eventually I'll get done with 100% exploration, having enough gold, etc.  It may not be until next wintersday that I have everything done, and if so, so be it.  Its a super long term goal that I have set for myself just so I don't ever log in and not want to do anything.

i'm a precursor and a few globs of ectoplasm away from my Bitfrost, but i don't feel like i've accomplished anything with it. i don't look back with fondness on what i had to do to get this far. it's just a waste of time and gold. sure, it'll be awesome once i get to equip it, but the novelty of a new skin and a few cool particle effects isn't really worth hundreds of hours and hundreds of gold.
