I cant seem to get a paid tournament to run. I takes around 1-2 hours to get a solid group and then another 1-2 just to find 7 other registered teams?

Im on Jade Quarry, though I believe paid tournaments are cross-server.

Obviously not... what a terrible assumption. Just because the post is on this night doesnt mean that it is this night alone that I find myself unable to find a group for this.

That serverstatus only indicates how many Guild Wars 2 accounts have chosen that server as their homeserver. It doesn't say anything about how big the remaining active population of that server is. Arenanet doesn't (want to?) release those numbers,
