OK, i havent played this game much in the past 2 months . Logged in a couple of evenings for some PVP. So im not update at all with news/anything.

Ive played MMO games for many years starting out on daoc. Playing quite a large amount of games. Never once did i get 'hacked' or fall for a scam.

Today(25th december) i wake up and check my email aparently a chinese person has tried to access my account several times in the night. So they somehow know my account password.
I ran 2 virus checkers - found nothing.

Im alittle worried because i use a similar password pattern on all the game accounts i own. With only a few letter/number difference.

I remember back in september there being a big problem with this but i thought it went away.

It will never go away. No matter what game, no matter what time. The best security you have is common sense and a strong password.

This is how more passwords are stolen these days. One or two sties get hacked here or there, and it opens up access to so many others. "A strong password" isn't good enough unless they are all unique. Failing that look into mobile authentication.

Like Darkobra says hacks/scamming/phishing will never completely be gone.

We have some programs listed to protect your computer in our Technical Support here. And as FoxBat pointed out, mobile authentications gives an added layer of security. For info on the official forums see here.

If you think there is more going on and your account is in danger, contact support.

Feeling your post got wrongfully deleted? Thread locked? Want to chat? Send me a PM. I won't bite
